Don't go by yourself, at least not for dinner, as this restaurant isn't meant for you. There were multiple reasons, but one is that all starter/app dishes were meant for 2+ people when I went, and they were not at all willing to do half-portions on anything, or proactively think outside the box to figure something out. So was being forced as one person to pay like $15 minimum for everything.I think I asked about 2 or 3 different things, even what seemed fairly simple things to do half-portions on, but no-go. They later, begrudgingly, made a half-portion of something after the waiter talked to the chef or manager/owner(?) I think a 2nd time, but I felt like an outcast by then and didn't care. I'd rather they hadn't because I had actually told them not to once I figured out they could pretty much care less about one person coming in, with their only focus being on the group experience. That's where the $$ is, no doubt. Even if that's the case, though, I'm unaware of any other restaurant that tries so hard to make you feel like you're alone on an island and an inconvenience if you go by yourself. So, make sure to bring friends and family as the restaurant is fully designed and catered to you. When some waiter guy came with the card reader at the end so I could pay, he asked how everything was. I told him I came there to have a nice, relaxing dinner by myself as a close relative had recently passed away, but how that didn't happen due to all the issues (and gave a quick summary). He never acknowledged my words, never apologized, never even said "I'm sorry for your loss." All he did was rip the receipt off the card reader after payment processed and fake-cheerfully, in a snide way, say, "Here's a souvenir!" as he handed it to me. Yeah, thanks, buddy. Way to get in one last jab for the already awful Fable Kitchen experience. A souvenir as if my relative being gone is something to be cheery about, or as if I've just had a fun vacation at Fable Kitchen resort? Go become an accountant or something behind-the-scenes where fellow humans don't have to deal with your lack of people skills. You, obviously, can't read a room. Or care too much to score one for the home team crew in the kitchen. Way to get me back, bro! Good one. Hope you got a good high five or two after I left.Used to enjoy going here for lunch, but I'm okay with never going again. Especially if I'm not in a group. Not a big loss, as their food and food options, in general, don't do much for me.

Get the French toast for breakfast. Worth coming across the city for it. I also got a fresh squeezed apple juice. Good light breakfast to start the weekend.

Food was super bland and uninspiring, just ordinary breakfast items that were at best cooked with just oil and some salt. I could have gotten that breakfast at almost any diner in town. Portions were also super small, the decor was overtly kitsch/silly, and the lighting was so dim it was an aggressively romantic brunch. In Vancouver I'm sure you can find somewhere with better food which doesn't rely on goofy decor to try and impress its patrons. I'm confident this place is only open because people get tired of waiting for jam just up the road (without the potatoes).Edit: I've checked some of the other reviews on here and bland potato's and breakfast seems to be a bit of a trend. If you are going for brunch, be safe and order something overtly rich.

Went for the first time this morning and immediately added to my list of favorite restaurants. We both got the trucker breakfast with the belly bacon + sausage on the side and it was absolute perfection. Every single thing was just delicious from the real butter and real maple syrup to the perfectly cooked belly bacon.

Such a disappointing experience at this restaurant. I’ve chosen the place as it is in the Michelin guide; my mistake. The drinks were good, we’ve ordered a manhattan and 2 mocktails, they were nice and pretty. Unfortunately, the food was not as expected. Even though at the beginning my partner and I not so bad starters—bread and amouse-bouche— the entree was forgettable. My partner ordered gnocchi with pork belly, it was all too fatty to say the least. I’ve ordered duck with lentils… what a shame, it was simply bland. Even after putting salt on it (to try to lift the flavour), it had no taste. For a $40 plate, it’s def not worth the money. Lastly, we’ve got the desert, a brownie. It was too sweet! The marshmallow was too overpowering on the whole plate, it’s not harmonious at all. Overall, it was a bad experience. I do not recommend the restaurant.Edit: my partner feels sick today (the next day). Her stomach hurts and she’s feeling a lot of nausea.

Cozy, eclectic, delicious, high quality ingredients, fabulous enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable service.Had a wonderful meal here. Jen our server made it feel like home. The menu is limited as they adhere to farm to table philosophy and use the best of what's in season. Naturally it changes often, looking forward to a new experience on next visit!

Atmosphere and food was pretty good, was really disappointed with the service. Me and my partner were there to celebrate our anniversary and all started out well until we ordered. We ordered the bread to start and i specifically said to start so that it would be brought out before the main course. I noticed many table that ordered after us were getting there food before us so I asked the waitress who was attending us why it was taking longer for us to get our bread she then said it was coming all together which is not what I asked for. I called for another waiter to let him know we asked for the bread to start and all he said was oh sorry. We got everything together which took over 45 minutes to get. The waitress who attended us (some taller blonde lady) then proceeded to ignore us and was checking on every one else around which is very poor people skills, its also very obvious the waitress was having a bad attitude towards us as the tables are so close together you can hear her attitude change when she came to us and when she was attending others. Over all probably wouldn't go here again as the experience was awful. Not really fine dining.

Let me start by saying that I love the name of this resturant. The vibe is so nice, and fable makes me think of fairytales even though it also represents farm to table, super witty play on words. The ingredients that they use here are amazing and everything is cooked super well. My only constructive criticism is that the flavour of the dishes could be improved and I understand that the resturant is trying to be hip with all the healthy options, but I really would've loved if my risotto was made with regular risotto rather than the healthier alternative that they used.I would also really not recommend the chai seed pudding, just not great. On the other hand, the duck meatball and pasta is cooked very well but it really needed more sauce, the salmon was cooked to perfection, would definately recommend. Overall, not bad and I wouldn't mind coming back again.

We came here for dine out Vancouver, and found the food to be 10/10. We included the wine pairing with our experience as well. The wine came out at least 10 min before each dish arrived at our table, which was a bit disappointing. The restaurant was very busy and felt like they were short a set of hands in the dining room. The atmosphere is great. It is warm, unpretentious and inviting. Next time I want to try one of their creative cocktails and I look forward to experiencing their full menu. Will definitely recommend and go back.

Loved coming here as part of the Dine Out Vancouver Festival! It's great that a couple of the dishes (the duck meatball and brownie) appear to be regular (and popular) dishes on the normal menu. My favourite dish was probably the duck meatball - it tasted great!!The service was incredible as well, really nice, polite and friendly. I didn't feel like we were really rushed out of the restaurant, however I would've appreciated a little more time to enjoy the food between each course. However, the restaurant was very busy with the dine out scheme going on, so I'm not surprised!I'm looking forward to coming back again!
