Got there just as they opened for 2pm happy hour and had a wonderful experience! Fantastic food, fresh and flavourful, and equally fantastic service - attentive, kind and knowledgeable! Will be returning for more oysters soon!
Although the oysters were really good, we waited over 40mins for it, good thing we got tacos too aside from the it so we're munching on something while waiting. Ordered zero proof peach bellini, so refreshing & tastes amazing. Service is okay it was getting busy so we understand that it may take long for the server to refill waters & such, she's nice tho i forgot her name.
This is my second time dinning here. First time last year was 5 stars. This time it was sub par. The halibut specials we ordered were under cooked. One person in our party was ill from eating it. The oysters were really good. The service was not good. The one waitress our section had was over whelmed. I hope this was an off day. I'll be coming back and giving them a second chance. Overall. The value was not there.
Loved the food & the service was excellent. The only negative is that the restaurant is loud & tables are close together.
Fabulous fresh oysters and seafood. Just what we needed. The atmosphere was very cool and prices were not so highbrow, especially the Happy Hour Oysters, and oyster shooters. The Sablefish collars were a surprise but delicious and reminded me of BC Halibut collars, smoked and served to us as guests of GitGat First Nation.
The waitress was very friendly, good recommendation and also explained out requeste very well.
Seafood was fresh and very well prepared! Went there 2 days in a row during a business conference. My brother came to town early and found this place a day before I arrived. He went 3 days in a row
We ordered a dozen oysters and discussed our options extensively with our server. They never showed up and we realized that when our dinner arrived. They brought and comped 6 oysters and that was a nice gesture but I would have rather enjoyed the oysters before dinner.
It's all about super fresh seafood. That why you are going to Fanny Bay. Fresh Fanny Bay oysters, Vancouver Island sourced Uni, Cherry stone clams all top notch. All add to this a great wine and sake by the glass system made this a great place. Staff was welcoming and very helpful in making choices. I can't recommend this enough. Great dining experience.
Every summer when I come back to Vancouver, Fanny bay oyster is one of the 3 restaurants I must visit at least once. Never disappointed. Delicious clam chowder with a lot of clams and thick bacon cubes, fresh oysters, delicious cioppino ..... arggggh!

Loved the food and service at Fanny Bay's. We'd definitely recommend to friends who love seafood and would come back in the future!
Servers were friendly but they did forget to bring a drink and an appetizer. $373 for 3 adults and a toddler to eat before tip (no booze) and we had to hit fast food on the way home to fill up. Food was pretty good, just not enough of it.
I first wanted to say all the food is delicious. we had the freshest Dungeness crab, the oysters were so good and all so different. We also had shrimp, truffled fries, scallops, and a Caesar salad. The menu is a little jumbled. I tried to preview what we were going to have beforehand & the menu online is difficult to wade through. And items on their online menu are different than what's in the restaurant. We tried several different things, including: three types of oysters, whole Dungeness crab, the shrimp in the red chili and butter, truffled fries, scallops, and a Caesar salad. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails from their specialty menu as well as some different wines. Our server was delightful and very attentive. Sadly, I did not get her name. She did make us feel very at home and comfortable, even though there was a little bit of a rush to get our meal completed. Apparently, there was a special event happening after us that we were not made aware of when I made the reservation. So we technically only had ‘45 minutes for Last Call and 75 minutes til they were closed'. This was crankily explained to us by manager when we arrived.(he was not very welcoming especially when he said he couldn't find our reservation, even though I had gotten a confirmation text earlier in the day) Overall, the food was delicious and was a perfect way to cap off our tourist day in Vancouver
Our first time at Fanny Bay Oysters was for the happy hour; Fresh, flavorful, and refreshing!
First, the Pa’aje oysters were hands down the freshest we’ve ever tried! So well prepared – no sand or shell in any of them. The mignonette was a perfect balance of tart and sweet.
Spotted Prawns are in season right now, so we tried the sashimi with added fried head. Extremely delicate, light flavour with beautiful presentation. Crispy heads had deep flavour, very crunchy paired with delicious sweet chili mayo!
Crab bao – FILLED to the brim with crab, seasoned so well.
Surf-and-\Turf Tacos were a perfect fusion of west coast contemporary and Mexican street food.
Probably the richest dish of the night, the Lobster poutine. One word to describe this – decadent. The butter flavour is infused throughout the dish, cheese was perfectly melted.
Sablefish collars – my girlfriend’s favourite dish! The soy marinade was perfectly balanced, not too sweet or salty. Each bite was crunchy, satisfying, and left me craving another.
Had a great dinner. My friends ordered a lot of different types of oysters, and I ordered lobster poutine. Meals were fair for the price, and were delicious. Service also didn't disappoint. Would definitely go again.
