It pains me to write this review. I thought that both Fat Mao locations were the same, but they aren’t. In fact, they don’t even seem affiliated. Like, at all. Admittedly it’s unfair to rate this Helmcken location in the context of the Chinatown one. But here I go: avoid the Helmcken one at all costs. Go to Chinatown.

Overpriced and below average food. Obvious flavouring agents/msg and the pork was absolutely disgusting, had a strong foul smell and taste like it was from an old pig. Never again. Chef Hung was way better shame it's no more.

The beef brisket with wide noodles is way better than the chicken leg with wonton noodles

An elevated and unique Asian restaurant in the area that is clean and a little away from the traffic on Granville. My chicken was delicious and fell off the bone, the curry broth was flavourful as well. The iced tea was also good but nothing out of the ordinary.

The noodle soup had great presentation but the taste was just alright. The music was quite loud so it was a bit harder to talk.

The food here was absolutely delicious. We started with roti and curry, which lived up to my expectations. The 'Braised Beef Noodles' were particularly satisfying with their generous portion of tender beef. I really liked the 'Nham Ngeaw' as well, a Northern Thai-style noodle dish I’d never tried before, which offered a delightful combination of sour, sweet, and spicy flavors all in one bowl. The chicken in the soup was also very tender. While I’m eager to try more of their menu in the future, I have to admit, the food is a bit pricey for a casual lunch menu. It’s still surprising that our bill came to over 60 dollars including tips considering this is Vancouver?‍♀️The quality and portion size of the food were certainly filling though.

Good taste for duck noodle dish but to be 100% honest, not as good as the original fat maa place in Chinatown. They’re absolutely delicious there!
