Folke is hands-down one of Vancouver’s finest vegan restaurants ~ chef-inspired, haute plant-based cuisine in Kitsilano. I love this place.
It’s wonderful for dates or small groups. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff are very informed, and the food ~ that’s where Folke really shines. I’ve always done the Chef’s Tasting Menu, so the dishes are different every time, which is exactly what I recommend. The Tasting Menu's can be done in a variety of course sizes as well, like if you don't want dessert.
Excellent wine selection and fun cocktails, and your server is more than happy to help pair drinks with whatever you’re having.

Us being vegans who have never tried Folke before, we decided to try the eight course tasting menu for our anniversary dinner. The welcome was warm and we were given a complimentary drink for the occasion which was nice. The appetizers and the dishes in the first four courses were really noteworthy and tasty while the last four were very underwhelming (couldn't finish some dishes due to its unexpected/overpowering taste maybe?). The dessert was alright though. Overall we found the ingredients used to be fairly common and not very unique or something special. An overall ok experience which could have been much better in our opinion, especially when it comes to the food in the last four courses and dessert too (we have tried some other fine dining vegan tasting menus and have been impressed). Also, the introduction of the dishes could be done better (without rushing through the explanation, though to be fair it was also quite noisy to hear them properly).

We went here for the Valentine’s Day tasting menu. We were seated at the bar facing the kitchen. That actually turned out to be the best spot in the house! We saw the amazing food being prepared, chatted with the chef and had a wonderful evening.
The food was all vegan, and transformed simple ingredients into something very special.
I was so excited to finally go here but so disappointed. The food was oily and salty, didn’t feel healthy. Very small portions. Over priced. When we ordered we told the server we’d start with one plate of a lot of things and maybe add a second and she said we wouldn’t be able to do that with the next seating. Felt rushed for supposedly fine dining, especially since everything came out so quickly. I’m vegan and really wanted to support.

I’ve been here three times. I’ve had the 5 course tasting menu as well as ordered a la carte. Each time I left stuffed and completely happy with the service and food.
The food is amazing, very vegetable forward, creative and well presented. It’s the kind of place where you go not just for the food but the overall experience.
While the prices are a little on the higher side, keep in mind that the tip is included in the menu price.

And every single dish was full of unique flavours and made us wonder the creativity of chef. How amazingly each ingredient is paired to bring out the best. Must visit restaurant for some great vegan food.

My sisters and I booked this restaurant for our first meal together on our sister's trip this past October. They knew us by name upon arrival, knew I was the vegan and that it was my sister's birthday. They had complimentary desserts ready at the table. As a vegan for the past 16 years I was surprised at many of the unique dishes and equally delighted. The staff was super friendly, knowledgeable and proud of their wonderful restaurant. My non vegan sisters enjoyed it as much as I did. Highly recommend.
