I felt welcomed the moment I entered, from the friendliness of the barista, to the warm aura of the cafe. I love the rustic wood decor and vintage vinyls on the wall. I especially love how generous and comfy the seating is (big tables) with huge windows that fill it with light, while the jazz and warm lights keep it cozy. There's even a piano in the back! The crema on my espresso was notably delightful, especially for a decaf, and the matcha was high quality. Perhaps one of the best cafes in Vancouver? Unsurprising considering the other East Cafe location in Hastings Sunrise is truly a gem.
I'd happily while away my entire day here, it's the kind of cafe I wish I lived above.

First time visiting under new ownership of East Cafe! I'm a regular at the Nanaimo location so I was super excited to check this spot out. I absolutely loved the whole vibe of the space; bright, spacious, large tables and various seating options! I had an iced matcha as well as a croissant, which were both delicious. I got a decaf latte for the road and the decaf was one of the best I've had! The owner, Josh, is so personable and friendly, and the staff are also lovely. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and will be coming back again for sure!

I used to go there a lot, and bring people over as well. Ever since they changed management, they messed up their whole bean operation, and now they don't sell the Espresso beans that they've been selling for years, despite my request to continue to buy it. They still have it, but not for sale for some reason. It's really unfortunate, got me shopping around for alternatives, and left me extremely disappointed. You have it right there! Why not sell it to your customers? To my eyes, this is an arbitrarily unfriendly customer facing decision.

Apparently Gigi blin is being reborned into East cafe and it's a bit sad that they ended their chapter while being one of the neighborhood cafes in marpole.
My first visit at the new brew, East cafe, was an instant delight. I appreciated that they still serve fresh housemade sandwiches like how it was at gigi blin. There are more options for bakery and pastries, yay! I like how they kept the grocer products and rearranged its displays in a more organized manner, so there is an efficient flow from the entrance to the cashier. Love the vintage and warm decor with jazz-focused vibes and notable vinyls. And great music that made me want to stay here for longer 🎷🎶 Clever thought where they made the industrial wooden shelves along the wall into individual seatings. And yes, good coffee plus they offer a choice for either a light or dark roast!
I appreciate how the East cafe had taken in and maintained unique aspects that Gigi blin used to offer and liked by many while adding in their own recreation. Excited to see more of East cafe ☕️
