Here’s a positivGilaneh is hands down one of the best Iranian restaurants in Vancouver, and we’ve been going there regularly! The quality of their food is consistently excellent, with authentic flavors that truly capture the essence of Persian cuisine. Everything is always fresh, perfectly cooked, and absolutely delicious.
The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and customer-oriented, which makes every visit such a pleasant experience. This time, they even brought us complimentary tahdig, which was such a thoughtful and delightful surprise. It’s little gestures like this that set them apart and show how much they care about their customers.
The only downside is that their prices have gone up quite a bit recently, which is unfortunate. However, considering the exceptional quality of the food and the warm atmosphere, it’s still worth it for a special dining experience. Highly recommend Gilaneh for anyone craving top-notch Iranian food in downtown Vancouver!

We really enjoyed our time at gillaneh, they have great staff, the food is pretty tasty and the portions are big!, the menu is pretty big, so you have a lot of great options, the meat was really juicy and tasty!, one main plate you can definitely share it with your kids, all the food tastes homemade and with fresh ingredients.

Just a trash, don't recommend anyone and expensive!
Nonsense, we had dinner one night, it smelled like a toilet, there were a lot of tiny mosquitoes, the food was very greasy, the meat and rice were not cooked, without salt and tasteless.
The price is expensive, it's a pity to pay for these, eat bread and cheese at home, it's better to go here

Gilaneh serves incredible rice dishes and that alone separates them from competitors in this cuisine. Think of this place the next time you plan on carb loading because the variety of flavours and textures across the different rice dishes will keep things interesting as you heap spoonful after spoonful.

In the entree section, they have the Mix Tahdig, which is a crispy rice with lentil and olive stews. An absolutely stand out dish and showcases why we love the way they cook their rice.

A further variation on their rice came in the form of this incredible dried pomegranate, yellow/white rice mix used in one of their main dishes (simply) named the Chicken Leg. The sweet and tangy flavour of the fruit complements the well seasoned chicken and soft, fluffy rice.

To round out the mains, we also ordered the Soltani Kebob which is a beautifully grilled combination of 1) fillet steak and 2) a ground beef Koobideh. The sweetness of the onions and the spices in the meat really shone through and the juices were neatly soaked in the rice, which again was amazing.

Keep in mind that the portion size of individual dishes are larger than average. Two mains and an entree was on the plentiful side for our group of two. We took leftovers home that easily became another lunch for one.

The absolute best Persian food i have had in Vancouver. Their kababs were melt in your mouth delicious. The rice was perfectly cooked. The tea and bakhkava were authentically Persian. The service at the restaurant was gracious and warm. Thank you for an amazing meal 🙏🏼

Low quality food.

I am sharing both pictures of barley soup and mushroom soup.

I have to be candid here: barley soup was as if it was taken out of the fridge (leftovers) and re-heated for us — it was a thick soup without any juice/water in it.

And the mushroom soup was quite the opposite — too watery and lighter consistency, as if its ingredients were not cooked enough. It was disappointing that it was not creamy at all. Most mushroom soups are served creamy.

Another note: despite saying we needed appetizers (i.e. soups before the main course), it seemed like main course was ready and kept in warmer for us because it was not hot at all — lukewarm rice, mediocre heat on kebabs.

Overall, quality was not there and service seemed absent.

I’ve been to Gilane back in Iran, and it was amazing, so I was excited to try this one in downtown Vancouver. I started with Ash e Reshte, which was perfect for the rainy Vancouver🥲😁. Then, we ordered the Kashk e Bademjoon—absolutely delicious! I highly recommend starting with that dish every time. We also had the Abgoosht, which was really tasty, and I appreciated the traditional presentation. However, I wish there were more sides, like torshi, which is commonly served with Abgoosht. Don't forget to end it with a delicious Baklava. Other than that, everything was perfect—the staff and service were great. Definitely worth a visit!
