I sat down, however, the chairs and table were filthy. All of the chairs at my table were stained. There were three people behind the counter with no customers to serve. I had to ask to at least have my table cleaned. I pointed out the filthy chairs but the employee just shrugged. I sat down waiting for a friend who was behind a few minutes. Another employee came to my table and told me that I needed to order something immediately or I would need to surrender my table and leave. I have NEVER been treated as rudely and poorly, ANYWHERE before.

I have been coming to Giovane at the Pacific Rim Hotel for years and in my opinion it is the best coffee in the world. I have been to so many places that are known for incredible coffee and nothing compares. I am not sure if it is because the coffee itself is truly the best or because the service from Erina and Sarah is always so sweet and kind. Even with a never ending morning line they always make time for you and they make you feel looked after.
The space feels elevated and welcoming. The atmosphere is beautiful. The coffee and the service together make Giovane a place I always look forward to visiting.

Overpriced sandwich, delicious nonetheless. I would just have appreciated being warned about how hot it was because I ended up burning my tongue real hard. Delicious coffee.

Cardamom latte was so delicious. Very nice interior and beautiful atmosphere. They have a nice collection of pastries, but I was full so I couldn't try any.

Coming from a country of great coffee roasters and baristas I’d found it hard to get a good coffee latte in Van, until finding these guys.
Strong, rich and not over heated or watery- these guys hit the spot with their coffees.

Ordered a Moka. Coffee was very bitter. For Cafe attached next to a hotel and above average pricing I expected more

Pros and cons of what could be one downtown's greats...
Pros: excellent espresso, both hot and chilled. Service is also top notch with the baristos/baristas building a sense of community in an area that is fairly difficult to do. Kudos to the Giovane team for that.
Con: as a panini lover, I prefer having both sides of the sandwich toasted instead of one. The other side of the sandwich was soggy and stuck to the wrapper while the other was toasted beautifully. I don't know if it was the panini grill that they use in the cafe; I would suggest adjusting so that both sides are grilled to justify spending $14 on what could potentially be one of the best sandwiches in downtown Vancouver.
Overall, the coffee and staff saved the day. If they made the aforementioned adjustments for the sandwiches, I would happily change the review to six stars.
