The drinks were fantastic and the bartenders/service was outstanding. We were hoping this place would have really great food, but unfortunately, it was carnival level at best - and we tried many things on the menu.

Nice experience! Dropped in because it's my hotel. Prompt service sitting at the bar. Not used to CAD prices regarding drinking but didn't seem like a ripoff. Nice cocktail, that empress 75. Glad they're in my hotel!

I stopped by Grain ended up trying the Sea to Sky cocktail after a recommendation from the bartender. It was seriously delicious. The bartender — she had some really cool arm tattoos — was super friendly and made the drink perfectly. The bar had a great vibe and the service was fast. I’d definitely come back again.

Visited with friends to watch the semi final game of Vancouver White caps last night. Great game, we won!! We also had an incredible experience thanks to Seorin❤️, who is hands-down one of the best bartenders I’ve ever met. Not only was she warm, welcoming, funny and effortlessly attentive, but she also made an espresso martini that absolutely blew me away. Perfect balance of rich espresso, smooth vodka, and just the right touch of sweetness, honestly one of the best I’ve ever had❤️
If you’re visiting, do yourself a favor and order one of her espresso martinis, Seorin deserves hazard pay for making something that addictive.

There was a mouse running around the restaurant tonight.
When I mentioned it to the server, he said mice had been a problem a year ago…..

I always try to be honest in my reviews, so here’s exactly what happened. My wife and I were staying at the Hyatt Regency and decided to go for a drink at the Grain Tasting Bar. We ordered two gin martinis and started drinking. A moment later, my wife pointed out that there were flies in her glass — I checked mine, and I also had flies in my drink.
We told the barmaid, and she offered to make two new martinis. After preparing the replacements, she insisted that what we saw were pieces of olives, but the first drinks definitely had real flies in them. The strange part is that we were still asked to pay for the drinks, which felt like an odd way to handle the situation.
Aside from that incident, the place itself is nice. It gets busy, the atmosphere is great, and it seems like a popular spot. I’m not going to leave a 1-star review because I understand things like this can happen once in a long while, but it was definitely an unusual experience for us — especially since nothing like this has ever happened in any of my previous reviews.

Restaurantji Recommends
Few weeks ago I went to the bar, I ordered cocktail and Truffle parmesan fries it was for my birthday. Today I come back, I order non-alcoholic cocktail lychee flow and food Truffle parmesan fries, cocktail so tasty and the fries so delicious in the large plate. The waitress Shawn is high professional and very friendly and high service. I deeply recommend this bar. This place is located above the Staple store on Burrard street. I will be back for sure. Thank you so much for a best time.

I finally got around to trying our Grain Tasting Bar after wanting to try it for a while.
I got the homemade shrimp gyoza and the sweet potato waffle fries. The food was actually really delicious - I was quite happy with that and in a way surprised too.
The restaurant itself is beautifully laid out. Even though it’s somewhat on the fancier side, there’s a casual relaxed vibe to it.
This is a place I’d definitely be back to. The only thing we were confused about was that we did make a reservation but when we got there, there was a sign at the door to say that we could seat ourselves (anywhere we liked) - no one at the entrance to welcome us or note the reservation we had so a little confused as to why they do have a reservation system if we were able to seat ourselves anywhere we liked

The waitress took forever to acknowledge us. We had to wait 15 minutes with her walking right by and commenting “you guys have to be the most patient table” when she finally took our order.
Asked for pretzels and we got nuts included. My company is allergic to nuts.
Felt very dismissed only for mediocre drinks.
