Lives up to the Guu name. Perhaps one of the quirkier Guus but still fantastic izakaya. The cheesy udon is a can't miss.
Had the best oysters I have ever had here. It was a Saturday and they had oysters at $2 a pc and tequila shots at $4. Rio was a great server.
While the food was enjoyable, I feel compelled to share my experience with the service we received tonight (June 6th) . Two of the waitresses were extremely nice and attentive; however, there was one waiter who was quite rude to our group.
I arrived last and was informed by my friends that the waiter seemed unhappy about moving us to a larger table to accommodate our group. Later, when the restaurant was closing, he approached us for last call, and his demeanor came across as unwelcoming and impolite. Both his tone and body language made us feel uncomfortable.
We were incredibly disappointed by the way he treated us, as it felt discriminatory and unprofessional. Such behavior should not be tolerated in any establishment.
I rarely leave reviews on Google for restaurants, as I understand that personal preferences can vary. However, I believe this experience warrants attention. It is my hope that by sharing this feedback, the management will take note and take steps to improve the service provided by their staff.
This is our favorite place for grabbing a beer. Their service and food are great, and 3 appetizers for 15$ deal is great. Love coming here.
Not as good as the first time I had guu at a different location :( the uni rice bowl was really good, but the rice dried up quickly cause of the stone bowl. The steak with fries was not good, I don’t recommend, and it was very salty. Oysters however were on special when we went, $2 per oyster, and it was so fresh! We went on a weekday dinner time (around 6pm) and it was not busy at all
Beautiful patio, friendly service, yummy Izakaya-style eats that won't hurt your wallet. What's not to love?
Great food and service. We’ll be back.
I have supported this place since day 1 they opened, had birthday parties and they were my regular Japanese place to go. The food was much better then, it quickly went downhill. I normally order some oysters to start and then cerviche salad, white wine and salmon batera sushi. Once my oyster was so bad I had food poisoning I came back and told them and all I got was sorry about that? This week I went there for dinner the wonton for the ceviche salad was so soggy I can flattened it without breaking. To spend 80 bucks with that kind of food quality and people that never stand behind their work. I would give 2 thumbs down for being just plain rude and I’m not coming back ever! A complete day and night professionalism, quality and price if you go to Tom Sushi just next door. I could have the best meal, service, they stand behind their work, and I never go beyond 60 bucks for an extensive meal. All other Guu in town are great and also Kingyo. Guu on Davie sucks!

The concept is great, but the execution was lacking. Their menu items were really enticing and we ordered a number of different dishes, but sadly, none of them truly knocked it out of the park.
The service was friendly, presentation/plating was great, but the food was just average.

We’ve been here a couple of times. Delicious food. Nice atmosphere, perfect service. We love the vibes. We were the only people inside that weren’t Asian and we felt so welcomed. The patio is so nice too. Thank you

We ordered the karaage chicken, cabbage salad, cauliflower special and ceviche salad. All dishes were delicious. An exceptional experience, great service, as well as our privacy. Truly impressive food at a reasonable price. A refreshing experience

The worst places you can go to, just went in with a friend to order for take away with a friend, the waitress came in shouting at us saying if you don’t wanna order tell me now we don’t have time for you and even refused to give us the menu to see, she was so discriminating and racist. Would never ever recommend this place. Have never encountered such rude people in Canada.
Ps: if you don’t wanna work and welcome guests just stay at home don’t ruin someone day.

Our first Izakaya-Experience and we loved it! Very Japanese vibes - we were the only Caucasians. Liked the food, very sweet and attentive service, clean washrooms.
