A great team front of house and back that will take good care of you, while having fun and enjoying their work. Had a new dish, Hokkaido scallop wrapped in Wagyu, it was decadent, flavorful and all around outstanding. Will keep coming back.

The food is always good here and reasonably priced. The music is loud so it's sometimes hard to hear others. I think we would come in more if it was so loud. The place is smaller and they have 2 tables in the back room for groups larger than 4. We had 5 people and there isn't any fans in the back so it can get quite warm in there. Also server's don't come to check on the back room much.

I used to love this place and visited often, but I hadn’t been back in a while. Unfortunately, my latest visit was disappointing, as the food tasted either too salty or too sweet for my liking.

We are frequent customers. The atmosphere is great and service friendly and the food is usually good to very good. Something has gone horribly wrong. The sockeye salmon was old, we ordered 3 piece of scallop sashimi and got on piece and two crumbs. We pointed this out to the waitress who agreed that the portion was poor and she brought it to her supervisor. We heard no apology. The tuna was try and tasteless. This was a very bad experience and will likely give us pause before returning.

I had lunch here today and the service was very disappointing. We were two people, but only one dish came out while the other was delayed until people who arrived after us were already served. The servers were busy chatting with each other and ignored us until we waved to get their attention

Even after we finished and asked for the bill, they didn’t bring it right away despite not being busy, and kept focusing on other things. There was no apology for the delay, and overall it felt like the staff had no attention or respect for the customers

I will never come back again

Our favorite spot across BC! 💜 Everything about this place is top-notch, the people, the food, the atmosphere. And the yaki udon? Absolutely incredible. OMG.

Guu Izakaya is a popular chain of Japanese pubs (izakayas) in Vancouver known for its lively atmosphere, delicious and authentic food, and friendly service. Customers consistently praise the quality and taste of the dishes, especially the fried chicken, yaki udon, and beef tongue with garlic sauce.

This place is lively and full of energy. From the moment you are escorted to your seats, the whole staff greets you in Japanese. They have the usual menu and a weekly special menu.

My favourite spot to sit is right up at the counter where you can see the cooks do their dishes. It’s literally a dinner and a show. It’s much more enjoyable.

This location has been here for many years and is well known and established. They are well respected and is a heavyweight contender in the izakya scene. This place is my top place to eat in Vancouver. I’ve had many meals here and many memorable moments.

Very small space but amazing food. We got many plates to share as a table, which was amazing so that everyone could try a bit of everything. Both the kimchi udon and yaki udon were so savory and delicious, but I think the yaki was my favorite of the two. The fried mochi was an amazing salty and sweet combo. I would definitely come back for the udon dishes!
