Fantastic service and delicious food! The kimchi rice is so good, full of flavour and just the right amount of spice. I reserved a window spot and we got sat at the bar by a big party that was really loud. But the excellent service and food made up for it.

I'm a big fan of Guu and have been for over a decade. Guu Thurlow is usually a pretty safe bet (if you can find space). This time, however, three of the items wanted to order off the specials menu were sold out (octopus carpaccio, jellyfish on tofu, and steamed mussels). As well, the sashimi we ordered was not quite up to Guu's usual standards as far as freshness and quality - every piece just tasted a little more fishy than we were expecting. The Yellowtail Carpaccio...

We had assorted oden and kimchi fried rice, both are very good. The price is very reasonable and the portion size is generous. The atmosphere is that of a Japanese izakaya. Very nice. I forgot to take photos of the food but just know it’s guud ?
