Vancouver nightlife is slowly dying and places like hello goodbye are to blame. To get in you either have to grease the bouncer or buy bottles. People are willing to spend 100 bucks on drinks inside but aren’t allowed in because the bouncers are money hungry… maybe do what you guys were paid to do ??

A friend of mine had a medical emergency whilst in line for entry. The doormen were quick to give us a requested bottle of water, and I later went back to the front of the line to sincerely thank them. One of the doormen replied with "just leave us a positive google review" which left a sour taste in my mouth. You can tell a lot about an establishment by who they put at their first point of contact with their customers. There seems to be a disconnect between respecting patrons and seeing them as dollar signs. Do not recommend.

I went here last night with my friend. We’re from Seattle and were looking for a bar to go to and I thought this would be a nice place to go but when we got there we were waiting in line to get in. Once we were in front of the line it almost seemed as if staff purposely didn’t want to let us in. We waited for maybe 20 minutes and decided to leave. I asked the guy working there what we were waiting for and he said they were at maximum capacity even though we seen multiple people being let through before us. It felt discriminatory and that maybe we might not have fit the standard. I don’t really understand how though because I seen multiple people going in and out that looked worse than us. This would’ve made more sense if this was LA but not for some mid 3.5 star bar in Vancouver. I felt like if they didn’t want to let us in they could’ve just told us we didn’t fit the dress code and that would’ve made more sense than wasting our time and overall making us feel bad about ourselves. Seems like this isn’t uncommon for them to do based off other reviews and obviously seems like they don’t care enough to change anything about it.

Bouncers Completely rude to me and my girlfriend, he tried to charge me $20 to get in but said my girlfriend could go in for free, my girlfriend asked why and the bouncer looked at her with a smirk and said “ That's just our policy” & “ why are you asking this you’re literally the first girl to ask us that” and tried to push her to get in by asking her more than once, and stopped me and tried to get me to pay the $20, which he never stopped anyone else.

Having checked the reviews here, I decided to give the negative ratings regarding the attitude of the door staff the benefit of the doubt, as I appreciate that these experiences are unique to each individual.Myself and a couple of friends showed up here towards the end of the night, looking for something of a safe haven for a single drink before we head home. It’s worth mentioning that despite the late hour, myself and my group were all perfectly presentable and there was nothing that would pose an obstacle in terms of admitting us into a bar.Having approached the door and asked if the bar was still open, the gentleman we spoke to informed us that while the bar was open, they were at capacity. Swiftly following this, around 10 people filtered out the exit with the clear intention of not returning. We playfully communicated this to the doorman, who instantly began to backtrack and become condescending towards us.Given the circumstances, we felt we were simply pointing out that the capacity issue had resolved itself and that it might warrant letting our group in for the remainder of the evening. It appeared, however, that this was not the case. Having tried to explain this and been met with the exceedingly unpleasant response of the staff member at the door, we decided to step down, but not after enduring a few moments of snark and perhaps even aggression from our new friend at the door.Happy enough to leave it there, we headed back in the direction of home. As we turned around, we noticed them lifting the barrier and allowing no less than 8 new people entry. So it was never a capacity issue, it seems. The value a venue holds lies largely in its staff. The way we were treated at the door was enough for me to not only take the time to write this review, it was also enough to dissuade me from ever darkening the door of this establishment ever again. Manners are free, but a day on this Earth teaches you that what is free may not always be abundant. Perhaps the door staff in this spot could stand to pick up a manner or two themselves.

Bouncers were ridiculously aggressive. The management should really look into who they hire for the job.

My favourite place in Yaletown! I love that it has a secret entrance… makes it more of a locals spot than anywhere else in the city. The Staff 10/10, Vibes 10/10, Music 10/10. Will always recommend this place if people are looking for a fun night !

This establishment needs to heavily re-evaluate how they treat their customers. Bouncer's were overly aggressive towards POC which showcased their internalized biases against certain customers. I hope management is able to reflect on their policies and learn how to properly train their staff. I would personally not feel safe coming back here again.

I used to love this bar, however after the mistreatment of my friend, a person of colour, I will never be returning. Not only did the staff assault my friend unprovoked, the management and security that night did not even try to make amends.Reconsider going to Hello Goodbye on your next night out, they treat minorities with zero respect, assault them and are overall rude.Shame on you Hello Goodbye. Do better.
