If you’re a true fan, the Hong Kong vibe here really captures your heart! The authentic taste of the pineapple bun is simply exceptional. I highly recommend treating yourself to a combo breakfast—it pairs beautifully with their delicious soy milk. It’s such a comforting experience!

Ho Yuen Cafe in Vancouver is a Hong Kong-style cafe that has received positive reviews for its nostalgic vibes and delicious offerings. Here are some highlights from recent reviews:
Food: The cafe offers a variety of housemade pastries like Egg Tarts with a cookie shell, Pineapple Buns, and entrees such as Homemade BBQ Pork in Noodles Soup and Satay Beef in Instant Noodles Soup. Reviewers particularly enjoyed the Ginger Sauced Beef in Vermicelli Soup and the Pork Chop Bun. The scrambled eggs were over cooked , but I should have asked for them to be softer.
Atmosphere: The cafe has a nostalgic feel, often playing classic Cantopop songs, which adds to the overall experience.
Service: While the service can be slow due to the volume of customers, the staff is friendly.

Authentic HK style cafe. Everyone is Cantonese so you know it’s the real deal. Staff speaks English and parking is a breeze.
I enjoyed the pineapple bun with butter the most. Delicious!!!
Egg tarts - not too sweet
Bbq pork - tender, flavorful
Salted egg wings - share with a friend because it’s rich

Soup has very good flavour but meat was way too sweet for my liking. Portion was quite small.
You were expected to tip but you need to get your own water, hot sauce….

Someone tell me why this was better than all the Michelin star restaurants we ate at during our trip?! Lovely service, delicious lunch, and the BEST buns I’ve had. Toronto has good pineapple buns, but this was outstanding. Can’t wait to come back!

Great Hong Kong-style fast food vibes, but with excellent hygiene and service (far exceeding HK levels). Photos showing landmarks of HK and Vancouver indulge nostalgia.

Their HK style egg tarts are to die for! The warm silky filling is like a hug in the pastry form. #IYKYK
The chocolate pineapple bun is such an amazing twist on traditional one. My kid loves it as an after school snack !

First time here, service is very friendly & efficient. Very delicious Pineapple Bun & Egg Tart, best in Vancouver and it's true.

The food is mediocre, satay beef is lack of flavour; pineapple bun is wrapped with paper which loses the crispy texture on the edge; the inside of egg tart is smooth but the taste is rather blend; chicken pie is decent but nothing special about it; the best item is the kaya toast with butter, but I assume it’s a store bought jam so it easy to make at home (correct me if I’m wrong).
All in all, the service is attentive and friendly, but probably won’t recommend it to anyone since it’s in a very inconvenient location and the food isn’t worth the trip.

Restaurantji Recommends
I ate at this restaurant once and will never go back in my life. It was really unspeakably delicious. The dishes were sold poorly and the prices were expensive. My jaw dropped the moment the dishes were served. I added one slice after another while soaking in hot water. The meat is so small that it won’t be like this to save costs, right? They are simply deceiving customers by spending real money, and they really treat consumers as fools. They buy 6 curry fish eggs for 10 yuan?? and what’s even more outrageous is a square bun with a fried egg?Dare you ask this? Cat? Not to mention the other dishes, the money spent was so frustrating!
