Every time I come here, my experience gets better and better. I’ve been here for lunch, dinner, and brunch. The prices are very reasonable for the quality, and the ambience is next level. The service is great too! Today, I went for brunch, which was really easy to book via OpenTable. I had the traditional Benny, which was delicious, and I tried my friends’ dishes as well – they were equally amazing. Highly recommend! It’s the perfect place to bring people visiting town.

Update: had a pretty disappointing experience the last time I went. Service was insanely slow. At some point I also asked for cream and sugar that never came, reminded him, it still never came and by the end of it, I had already finished my coffee.

Whether you’re wanting a romantic dinner or to have a fabulous night out with friends, Homer St Cafe is the place to go. The food is always terrific, cocktails are OUTSTANDING, but most of all their team always ensures you’ll have an amazing night out. We can always count on Emmit, Andrew and Dave behind the bar to serve up a fabulous night out. If you haven’t tried HSC, get there now. If you’ve already been, you need to get back there again yo support this great local treat. IYKYK.

Nice looking Cafe, but the food was very average. I think the server must've been having a bad day.

Homer St always pops up on the list of best restaurants in Vancouver. I went for lunch and was unfortunately disappointed. The server highly recommended their special club sandwich made with their famous rotisserie chicken. The sandwich was cold and just loaded with mayo and processed (American) cheese. I love a good club, but this was not it. The coffee was consistently not hot or even warm, and did not taste good.

Wow- service & food here is excellent. Came in on a busy night with no reservation. My friend and I were seated right away at the bar and were greeted by two amazing bartenders. My extra dirty martini was made exactly how I like and our food came out hot and delicious. We shared the “Full Monty” and it was a large amount of food and the sides were amazing. Love this place. Will definitely be back.

This place is best described as elevated comfort food (accurately quoted by Dave the bartender). I feel majority of people know them for their rotisserie chicken, but this place has much more to offer. The ambiance was very festive, warm and cozy. We were seated at the bar and I’d recommend making a reservation beforehand on a weekend.

We ordered half a rotisserie chicken, sunchokes, and steak tartare. The rotisserie chicken was what I expected, flavourful and juicy. I will say it would’ve been nice if they gave an option to have it precut because they gave us half a chicken, which we butchered in the process of eating. The gravy was light so the dish itself wasn’t too rich, pairing well the fries. The sunchokes is what surprised me - they were cooked crispy, similar to how brussels sprouts are served, but it’s more of a starchy veggie. It’s delicious, but I wouldn’t say it’s a healthy veggie dish as it’s pretty greasy, more of an indulgent one. Lastly, the steak tartare - it was light and although the picture makes it super complicated, the flavour was simple. The tater tots was definitely different than what I’m used to, but they were pretty good - I ate them seperately because I would’ve preferred something that made the steak tartare easier to eat. Overall, I had a decent food experience and I can confirm that it felt like I was having elevated American food. However, I think the drinks are what really impressed me. We were celebrating a birthday, so I had the decaf espresso martini and amaretto whisky sour. I don’t drink often, but the espresso martini was so good - nice and frothy with a hint of vanilla syrup that helped cut the strength of the vodka as it’s got a kick. As for the whiskey sour, the amaretto was a very nice touch to your standard whiskey sour giving it a sweet aftertaste and making the cocktail very smooth. They also surprised us with a butter tart at the end, which was very kind of them. The butter tart was good, but definitely on the sweet side.

Overall, I had a great experience at Homer cafe. The staff was very friendly and I really have no complaints. I would highly recommend their espresso martini for drinks, and for food would say to give the sunchokes a try. I felt everything was fairly priced, and dishes were a decent size - I think it’d be too rich and greasy if the dishes were larger. The ambiance is good for a variety of occasions, may it be date night, a celebration but maybe not the best for large parties. I’d come back to try one of their other options, but moreso if I was craving some solid american comfort food.

This restaurant specializes in French-inspired comfort food, and I’m a regular, though this was my first time visiting during their happy hour. The menu is smaller and slightly more affordable, so I was curious to give it a try.

The floor staff, as always, were attentive. I was offered a choice between the bar and a table, and I opted for a table.

I started with a local IPA and their steak tartare. It’s served with tater tots, which sounds intriguing at first but ended up being a poor choice. The tartare itself was disappointing, smothered in cheddar cheese and a strong dressing that completely masked the flavor of the meat. I wouldn’t recommend it—6/10.

Next, I tried their beef and bacon burger. Unfortunately, it was overly seasoned, the bun got soggy almost instantly, and the burger was far too greasy. The lettuce wasn’t fresh, and the fries on the side were excessively salty. Another miss—3/10.

To cleanse my palate, I ordered a cocktail called the Cucumber Negroni. While recording its preparation, I seemed to upset the bartender. The manager approached me, stating that filming was against the law and asked me to stop. Although I disagreed, as I wasn’t filming anyone in particular and was simply documenting my experience, I decided not to argue. I stopped recording, deleted the video, and finished my visit.

I paid the full bill with a 20% tip—credit where it’s due, the server was excellent and the highlight of the experience.

Final thoughts: The happy hour food was poorly executed, the manager’s attitude left much to be desired, and I wouldn’t return at this time of day.

This was our pre-concert restaurant of choice. The food was good but the portions were lighter on some of the items.
We were able to order off the happy hour menu for some of the appies. The dip is worth trying, we enjoyed that it came with vegetables and lavash. The cobb salad was tasty and a good portion size.
The service was quite slow. Our server had to be flagged down quite a lot and the restaurant did not seem busy.
We did not try their chicken but maybe next time.
