I went for the free birthday dinner. The meal I picked, from several birthday meal choices, was terrific, even if there was no birthday dessert. However, my friend who came with me had such a less positive experience. She spent almost $50 and left hungry: such small portions, much smaller than the birthday meal. The prices are high; the online menu text is small and hard to read. Our server was helpful and attentive. We felt upset when the staff washed the floors WHILE WE WERE STILL EATING. Not only was it unpleasant, but going to the washroom before we left was hazardous because there was so much soapy water on the restaurant floor. Would I go back? Only for my birthday.

Great lunch deals! They also have gluten free options - you grill your own veggies, meats, and seafood, so you can just ask them to only season with salt and pepper (no sauce). They started having a gluten free ginger barbecue sauce recently which is delicious and you can use it as a dip! Very friendly service as well.

The BBQ lunch sets are great value in Vancouver. For this price, it is pretty great as I won’t expect some premium quality meat. The bowl of rice is small and if you are hungry you may need to order an extra bowl.
The price is really unbeatable and I will visit the restaurant again.

I was in Tokyo during my actual birthday (12/13), and couldn't take advantage of the Birthday Special at Homura, but hope to come try that next year if I'm in town! I was not able to try yakiniku when I was in Japan, but I am so glad that I found this place since returning home: the tastes/smells/etc are very similar and authentic to Tokyo restaurants.
I was glad that I was there in time to try the Beef Lovers combo and other Happy Hour items from 2-5. It was a meal set for two people, but I was able to grill the remaining meat and take it to-go with the second rice portion at the end. Loved ordering through the screens. Harami steak and Pork belly marinated with ginger/soy were wonderful, loved the sauces/accompanying dishes as well. Ice cream/sorbet (green tea/yuzu) is a must! Parking is a bit difficult with the ongoing construction, but I was able to park across the street (near Scotiabank) and walk over - I will be taking the 99 bus next time, which is more convenient along W Broadway. Very kind and attentive staff, moderately-clean and accessible washroom.
