The food at Hooks was excellent, but the real standout of the night was our server, Eva. She was easily one of the best — and most memorable — servers I’ve ever had. Incredibly personable, attentive, and genuinely kind, she went above and beyond to make our evening feel special. Hooks is lucky to have her — she truly elevated the entire experience.

We were excited to finally find a warm patio where we could sit with our dogs. We were so tired and hangry but there was only one server. Of course it took a long time to get everything but she was very friendly. But the mussels were not warm when it was served and $40 steak was suppose to have side veggies but it came on top of French fries it honestly looked one at Deny’s.

Be sure to book as this place gets busy! Friendly staff and a great menu focused on seafood. My friends got the seafood platter which they enjoyed and had a number of different varieties of seafood including shrimp, salmon, oysters. I got the fish and chips. The fish was fresh and cooked well but the portion was small. The chips here are fab - they have their own house seasoning they sprinkle on, but it was a bit salty. If you prefer things less salty definitely ask for less of the seasoning.

We were traveling with two kids. One toddler and one baby. We decided to go to Hook for dinner with friends. The East Coast oysters were incredible and the food was great! What really blew us away was our server. He was such a great guy. So patient and on top of everything. Great wine recommendations too.

We sat out front and enjoyed the amazing view—it really set the tone for the evening. The staff were down-to-earth and genuinely friendly. One of them even shared that he used to live in Winnipeg, which was a fun connection for us since we’re from Portage la Prairie. That kind of atmosphere is rare and made the experience even more special.
Our table ordered a variety of dishes—fish and chips, a chicken burger, one of the bowls, and some great drinks including Caesars and beer. We also tried the oyster sampler platter. I’m fairly new to raw oysters, but our server explained everything in detail—how to eat them, what to pair them with, and what to expect. It turned what could have been intimidating into an unforgettable experience.
The combination of great food, warm service, and a view you can’t beat makes this place a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend—EAT HERE!

Hook has one of the best views for sunset at English bay, just magnificent, Plus the food it's amazing, my fav is the Tuna noodle crunch, Saganaki prawns and Fish tacos. But at the end the best it's the whole experience, the staff try to acomodate your preferences making it very special.
