I ordered a meal off the tgtg app and arrived at the specified window to pick up my food. The business was closed! The security door was locked, all the lights were off and no one answered the phone. What a hassle to drive all the way there and then have to ask for my credit card to be refunded by the food app. I think the business should have cancelled my order from their end before they closed up shop. Will never attempt to order from here again.

-Ate here once and food was good. -Portions are fairly large. -Bit of spice to our dishes (goat curry and ackee with tofu and beans). -Fried plantains were nice; soft not crispy. -Water was flavoured with something milk and was refreshing. -Service may not have been the best but was friendly. -Had lunch and no one else was in restaurant so can't comment on atmosphere. Very casual decor. -Would go again for the food.

A nice place for some casual dining with Jamaican theme. Next time Ill want to bring some friends though as it would be best experienced smorgasbord style.

You'll be setting yourself up for some disappointing food if you go here for any sort of food. The food isn't worth the paper they used to print the menu. I'm not one to bash someone's cooking but the food is trash (3/4 of the plate of oxtail is oil & water for instance) . Go to the Loft Lounge on Denman if you want some authentic Jamaican food and any value for your money.

Amazing ambiance! Ruth’s hospitality made our day and worth coming back.

The oxtail was next level and you get value for your drinks ??????

One of the best West Indian restaurants in Canada outside of Toronto which is where I’m from original. Great people and the food was automatically correct in taste. The portions are huge and prices are reasonable for the quality. No other Vancouver restaurant offered such an experience and I’ve been to most of them if not all looking for such an experience. Try it you will definitely love it. Going back today for Sunday dinner I&I Jamaican style one love always great

I had good experience with the fish, but unfortunately last time I was there a long blonde hair was in my food, the waitress was a Caucasian blonde, and the cooks were Jamaican, The waitress told me because the cooks obviously don’t have blonde hair it wasn’t from the cooks. It was definitely the waitresses hair in my food, i to have blonde hair when I’m wearing my hair extensions, but my hair was pulled back in a bun and dark brown at the time. I wasn’t offered a discount I had to pay full price for my food after only eating about six bites of it. The last few times we ordered the oxtail and it can give you a heart attack with how much oil is on top. My husband is from Jamaica and he said this was the worst oxtail he has ever had, about 3 inches of oil layered on top of the oxtail. Sadly I will not be going back. The cook is a great guy very nice guy though.

Delicious food. Had oxtail and lamb curry and recommend both. Coconut rice so tasty. I'll be back and appreciate that it's licensed so you can come for a drink with friends. Huge space.Update: Have since been back twice & continue to recommend. Owner & staff are friendly and easy to chat with. The food is so fresh - meat has no hormones, oxtail gets delivered directly here, veg sourced from local sources. If the cost shocks you, it pays to notice that this is what fresh food tastes like when it doesn't come from costco or premade bags. This sounds cynical but most restaurants do start with premade bags, unless they are super fancy places with high prices. If you don't want the fancy vibe but you do want fresh food made that day where you can have a drink with friends AND eat well, this is the place for you.I have found the owner very generous when there is an order mix-up or an item goes short at the end of the day - just talk to them directly & you get sorted out.

This place has amazing authentic food. We tried the j*** chicken, oxtail and the curry goat. Flavour was spot on. Big portions. We were excited to take some home. The price is worth the food you get. If your looking for the atmosphere to match the food, you won’t really get that here. They do have some decor to go with type of food served.’This doesn’t really matter. As soon as you taste the food you would feel the same way. We honestly think (the dive) no disrespect at all, Is the best to eat at. You gotta eat here!!!

Decided to give this a try and was highly disappointed. The j*** chicken was extremely dry- there was no sauce on the chicken or flavour. Had to find my own dipping sauce to eat the chicken. Don’t really like giving bad reviews with the pandemic going on, but was extremely dissatisfied

One of the best Restaurants in town. The food was excellent so was the service, and the owner of the restaurant who is also the main chef came to our table and asked us if we enjoyed the food that was nice.Simply the best
