An unfortunate and underwhelming experience.I ordered tuna and sockeye salmon sashimi and dynamite roll. Sashimi came out first, well before anyone else's food. Cuts of fish were far smaller than I have seen at other sushi places, and did not taste fresh. I understand getting fresh fish is hard, but this fish still had a slightly frozen texture to either. So perhaps it wasn't defrosted correctly. I asked the server if it was fresh and why the pieces were so small. He went to ask the chef. The chef came out, berated me, saying his slices of fish are average (perhaps average for him), and then said if I didn't like it I could leave. He didn't give me much chance to respond as he marched back to the line. It would be one thing to respond politely to my criticisms, but chef was just rude. Dynamite roll was okay.On top of this, our server was a bit clueless. It was difficult to tell if he was legitimately struggling with the job, or was just under a lot of stress. He was the only one working tables, running food and hosting, so I wonder how he is when it's a full house of 12 tables. When I had the issue with the sashimi, I asked to order something else. No menu came. Then the food came and I was asked if I wanted something else. The attention to service was lacking.Overall, very underwhelming. I feel for celiac people like my friend who want a good sushi place that offer GF items. This place unfortunately is mostly underwhelming. On top of this, their prices are far above average and I have a hard time believing the price difference is all going to make GF tempura batter. We did order their spicy yam fries (Fire Tower) and those were delicious, so they get a well earned extra star from me there.Dietary restrictions: They offer GF dishes

Reservations are required, so you can enjoy your meal in a relaxed manner. Yam tempura is popular among people of all generations, and the tempura has the best texture and is exquisite. There are also gluten-free beers available.

A traditional Japanese izakaya that's dedicated gluten-free, Celiacs rejoice!!!My absolute faves are:Crispy Real Crab RollPork GyozaVeggie TempuraChicken Teriyaki Bowl(And sorry, I ate a lot before I remembered to take the pic, that's how exciting a dedicated gluten-free restaurant is, people!! ?)OMG, so good! And, what a treat for Celiacs to be able to eat out LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE!! Fantastic owners and staff. This is a MUST if you're Celiac and in Vancouver, does not disappoint ? ?Dietary restrictions: It is forbidden to bring outside food or drinks into IKI Japanese restaurant in order to maintain a gluten-free environment ?Parking: There's a row of parking right in front of IKI, but it's sometimes easier to drive past, turn right, and pay park on the zone street, so worth the 2-minute walk.

I cannot say enough about this place! Th It is a smaller quaint restaurant with good atmosphere and great service.I highly recommend the yam fries, the spicy squid and tempura. As a celiac I felt 100 percent safe eating there. It is entirely gluten free and they inquire about any other allergies when they take your order.Excellent menu, food, and service!

Great service and accommodation for dietary restrictions. More places should be like Iki and have simple icons indicating the allergens on the menu. My boyfriend and I had 3 appetizers, 2 rolls, and one rice bowl served, eaten, and finished in 30 minutes. Definitely will be back next time we’re in Kits.
