My husband and I visited Saiko for the first time tonight and it’s our new favourite sushi place. We sat at the sushi bar and learned so much about sushi from the chef/owner! The nigiri we had was incredibly fresh, and likely the fish was still swimming yesterday, according to the chef. Their fish is regularly flown fresh from Japan during the week. We really enjoyed the big eye/ striped jack, renko dai/ big eye, and kanpachi/ amberjack nigiris, unagi don, and salad with real crab meat. Thank you for the wonderful evening Saiko sushi!!

The food is absolutely fantastic! Their aburi is incredible and the chef is extremely talented. Definitely top 5 on my favourite sushi places in Vancouver - a must go!

Came in for something quick and nearby. Ordered the lunch special unagi don set. A no-frills, non-Japanese run Japanese restaurant.

Found the shredded daikon mixed with the re-heated packaged unagi to be a little bit of a strange combination. The imitation crab meat with tobiko on top also seemed like an odd garnish. Bad presentation, although I see the effort.

Not sure about how often prep gloves are changed but was concerned to see the hostess touching a lot of things with the same glove and then serving my food with same gloves hand’s thumb sticking int the food in my bowl.

Sauce dripping down side of bowl could have been wiped off before serving to me. Made my hands sticky.

I didn’t get diarrhoea so all good. Probably wouldn’t come back though.

The most welcoming cute little sushi shop. GREAT quality fish that doesn't break the bank. Highly recommend sashimi and nigiris here. 10/10!

Spicy tuna sashimi is a bit fishy. Tempura shrimp could’ve been made via air fryer. Nigiri was excellent. Fruit flies a concern.

Chef's nigiri is like a mini version of omakase. The sashimi varieties were delicious, including waygu nigiri and fresh water eel and ofc toro, which full of fatty umami.

Tasty. I had seafood udon and it was amazing. Everything is so fresh. A little pricey for my liking, portions could be a little better.

Food was very good. Sushi was tender and fresh. The seafood udon was very flavorful. My only complaint is that the portion size was small for my liking.

What a little gem! The chef owner worked in Japan for 20+ years and then with Shiro in Seattle. Definitely coming back next time for Omakase.

Excellent sushi. The master prepares it right in front of you. I liked the sashimi; the salmon was buttery tender and pleasant to the taste. The bluefin was also tasty, although a little messy looking.

I've eaten here twice now, and I am so impressed by the sushi for the price point. The head chef and staff are lovely and we felt welcomed. They were very accommodating and kind.

The seafood we had was delicious, some of it local. I'm not a mackerel (saba) person, but this place gave me the second piece of mackerel nigiri I've ever actually enjoyed (the first being in Sapporo, Japan) so major props 👏 The sushi rice was on point, and the presentation was lovely and well thought out while remaining simple.

Will definitely be returning... almost didn't want to leave a review and to keep it all to myself instead, but I really want them to do well and succeed.
