We had an amazing experience last night at Is That French. Our waiter, Nick, was fantastic—so knowledgeable that we let him choose four dishes along with all the wine pairings for us. Every single choice was spot on, and we loved it all.

Lovely atmosphere and a fantastic wine selection. A huge shoutout to our server Nick, who truly made our evening special! He was incredibly attentive, professional, and knowledgeable. Can't wait to come back!
Great food, wine and atmosphere. The only temporary drawback is the laneway which is under construction - but evengins are fine
Outstanding date night experience. Warm and welcoming service paired with joyful food and wine. Basque cheesecake for the win.
Extra points for the cool Bocci lights

Is That French? absolutely lived up to the hype. My friend and I started with New Brunswick oysters — a sweeter, delicate variety, beautifully presented and the perfect way to begin the evening. We followed with scallops that were tender, flavorful, and perfectly balanced, then indulged in the foie gras, which was rich, silky, and paired beautifully with the accompaniments. The wagyu tartare was a standout — expertly seasoned, melt-in-your-mouth, and plated with such care. We ended on the Basque cheesecake, which was creamy, light, and the perfect not-too-sweet finish
Nothing to write home about. Service was slow, even sitting at the bar. Food was okay but not great. Quite expensive for what it was. Given its location in Blood Alley, I just don't see what the attraction is. I would say L'Abbatoir nearby offers a great early dinner there course menu for much better value.

We were looking for somewhere with that Montreal vibe of great food, wine, service and ambience and Is That French delivered on every level. The food was amazing; great flavours and perfect technique and we couldn't have been treated any better. Professional but super friendly and really knowledgeable. Loved the whole experience!
We had an excellent evening — great atmosphere, delicious small plates, and not a single miss. The foie gras and Basque cheesecake were standouts (the cheesecake will haunt my dreams). Lovely wine selection and truly warm, attentive service. Thank you!
Tucked away in an alley, this place was a bit difficult to find, but it was so worth it!!! The front door has a question mark but no name (unless I missed the name somewhere). Walking in, it was a cozy environment with a really nice gentleman who walked us through the menu and the drinks. Superb guy.
The food: we took advantage of the oysters on Happy Hour Monday. The oysters were all stellar! But the star of the oyster show was the baked oyster with Uni hollandaise and lobster oil - 10/10. Beyond that, the foie gras was also immaculate and perfectly balanced - 10/10. Not sure if I would order the deviled eggs again.
Overall, awesome dining experience!!!

Varied and unique wine list pairs perfectly with the small plates; local, French, and experimental flavours. The dark ambiance not only sets the tone but macerates with exceptional service for a night that was relaxing and exciting.
Fantstic experience! Super quick service, very knowledgeable about the menu giving us individualized service.

Dined at Is That French this evening and it was phenomenal. The scallops are some of the best we’ve had, the service was impeccable, and sitting at the chefs table was a dream. 10/10
