We had high expectations for the aclaimed clam chowder, very disappointed, it should be called potatoe/carrot chowder, no visible clams at all in the 2 orders we had.

I’m drooling thinking about my meal here. We had the chowder and the fish sandwich and both were phenomenal and very well seasoned. We also had the salt and vinegar fries which were just as great. The staff is also extremely friendly :) can’t wait to come back!

Tried the chowder, shrimp roll, popcorn shrimp and fries. All fantastic. I especially liked the chowder, just the right amount of creamy. They were also accommodating of our baby and were prepared with a high chair.

The cool early-fall weather was perfect for a warm bowl of chowder. The chowder here was rich, creamy, and packed with ingredients — my friend and I each had one, and it was super filling.

We also ordered a shrimp roll to share. The seasoning was a bit too salty, but the portion of shrimp was generous.

Service was very friendly, and overall, it was a cozy and satisfying meal. Definitely a great spot if you fancy a warm chowder during the winter days.

Place had a nice vibe but I had take out so I didn’t stay. The food was okay but the portions were pretty small in relation to the price.

The following is a 5-star review and I don’t write a lot of reviews compared to many others because I’d rather spend my time in other ways; however, I’m going to spend my time writing this one because it is well deserved.

We all have these thoughts about specific foods we haven’t had in awhile. My wife went to San Francisco a few months back and I reminded her of getting Cioppino which is a seafood stew that originated from there. The best she has ever had was on a cruise ship. Sadly, she did not get the opportunity to get the dish so at 2:30am for whatever reason last week I decided to look for a local place that had this dish. The internet took me to Jack’s Chowder.

The menu looked decent and I’ve been to many places with chowder, fish and chips, shrimp, the usual. The reviews and close proximity to where my son was yesterday after his badminton took us here. The only skepticism? Location. This place is nowhere near the ocean. But off we went.

The skepticism exit stage left when we arrived. First thing? People. The place was packed. There were 2 tables outside and a girl enjoying a bowl of clam chowder sitting at one of them. The chowder looked great. We were greeted by a man who I found out later introduced himself as Matt. The only table available for 3 was outside — in the rain. Ambience. The best soup days are on colder, rainy days. Let’s sit.

The second thing that stood out was the first thing on the menu which was the New England clam chowder. Now, when it’s the first thing on the menu AND the word “chowder” is in the restaurant name and on the wall, you know it should be good.

Order taken with smiles — one chowder, one Cioppino, two fish sandwiches, one with easy tartar. Few minutes later, decided to get fries so ordered that. I wanted to order a shrimp roll but they sold out.

Food looked great. My son is a picky eater. First bite and we couldn’t feel the cold nor hear the rain. It was all about the food. I’m not exaggerating when all of us agreed that this was the best chowder we’ve had yet. And special mention for the crackers. No cheap Premium Plus here! The Cioppino was the best on the cruise ship. Was. This Cioppino was better. Fish sandwich? On point and it was the best fish sandwich I’ve had yet as well. Soft bun, crispy batter, quality fish. Fries. Damn good. So good I was reluctant to get the ketchup, and I always get the ketchup. I’ve never had fries like this before. So good. What’s going on? When is the last time a lunch was perfect? I can’t remember. But I didn’t need to. It was now at Jack’s Chowder. My wife liked the chowder so much she ordered another one to go. This never happened before. It did today.

This restaurant is small as are the staff of three, but this place has big flavor. And although it’s nowhere near an ocean, neither is the best Chinese food in Vancouver found in Chinatown.

I’m coming for that shrimp roll and tons more visits. This place is truly exceptional.

First time hearing about this place and as I am English and also love good Chowder and Slaw I thought I should try it. Sadly, the soup had little seafood, mostly flour and potatoes, it tasted like flour, the curry slaw had curry we could see or taste and smelled like cleaning fluid, after the first bite we didn't eat it and the fish sandwich - the fish was a very dark brown, means the oil is changed infrequently and it was just awful, greasy and very american! Also may I add a large piece of fish would be better in a long bun rather than a hamburger bun. This place is OVER PRICED and the cutlery they provide is cheap and makes eating more of a chore than a dining experience. The service was polite and efficient.

We finally got a chance to try jacks chowder and it did not disappoint. Small place but the food they crank out of that tiny kitchen is impressive. Had the fish and chips and the chowder. All excellent. The salt n vinegar fries are better than I had expected and the coleslaw was shocking good, contained apples (a fresh and nice surprise). The chowder was excellent.

Our server was outstanding, especially with how busy it was .

Delicious food and great staff. We will be back

I randomly walked into this place and was just blown away, what a gem. Not a seafood guy but the Fish sandwich was crazy good and I just inhaled those popcorn shrimp. Never had a clam chowder, not really sure what it was....I decided to get a bowl, unreal. I rarely leave reviews but this is great seafood, a really warm cozy place, and one of those hidden spots that just does food right.

Came here after seeing good reviews about their clam chowder. The menu was simple, and we tried the chowder along with the fish and chips. Portions were very generous, and the taste was decent. Not an outstanding spot, but not bad either.

Discovered this place recently and it’s definitely a new staple! The food is delicious and cozy, and the staff is so friendly. While you do order at the counter, the overall service feels more like a sit down restaurant.
