A modest little breakfast/brunch spot on Main with excellent service and a brilliant menu of superb breakfasts. We’ve been a few times and the service each time has been super friendly and welcoming. It can get crowded because it’s popular and space is limited but the food is so good that it’s hard not to keep coming back! You’ll be hard pressed to find food as satisfying in quality and quantity as we’ve had here. If you’re looking for no-fuss but enjoyable comfort food, we highly recommend that you drop into The Basic.

Very good vibes, food choices have something for everyone. Corned beef hash was fabulous, vegetarian hash , pancakes and waffles. Server was friendly and very attentive. Definitely want to try lunch 😋.

I recently visited The Basic on Main Street in Vancouver with my best friend and my two kids, and we had such a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is casual, comfortable, and gives off a really wholesome family vibe — perfect for a relaxed meal out. I ordered the veggie hash, which was absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. The kids loved their pancakes, and my daughter was thrilled with her hot chocolate topped with whipped cream (a big hit!). Our server, Jesse, was fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome throughout the meal.
Overall, great food, great service, and great vibes. We’ll definitely be back!

Crap I only got a picture after the food was gone because it was so good…..I accidentally found this place when seeing someone taking a picture of the food on the patio which ended up being the waitress. Very humble appearance with overwhelming food quality and service. You feel like you are at home, but your mom became a more amazing cook than she already was haha. Delicious food, friendly atmosphere and great value. Couldn’t be happier finding this place and I will definitely be coming back all the time!
