This location is set to close for good at the end of April 2022.

There was a strong caucasian body odor smell that I couldn’t get away from… it completely prevented me from enjoying the coffee. I told the staff as well, but they had no air freshener

As a place for coffee, Kafka is great! Their baked goods selection is limited, but Lil Bird Sandwiches shared the same location if you are hungry. Nothing about their interior would make me want to stay and chill inside, but happy to take their coffee to go

The place looks awesome, machines look awesome but the barista must have had an off day as the espresso shot was extremely sour. Shame, I'll have to go back when she's not working.

Awesome cafe for study. They have big table and good drink/food selection. Food prices are a bit pricey.

Love this place! Great coffee, pour overs to die for, and staff that are very kind. Kafkas for the win!

This review is specifically about Lil Bird Sandwich Co., which operates out of Kafka's. The Reuban and Chicken Scwarma are both fantastic sandwiches. Also love the Italian veggie one (sorry, the name escapes me). So happy with this not so new addition to my fave coffee shop. However the new Marrakesh Express needs some serious tweaking. The cauliflower is cooked to within an inch of its life, a toddler with one tooth could manage it. The curry is one-note, and lacks complexity. Also not sure the marble rye is the right bread choice for the other flavours. This is a also a very moist sandwich. In the time it took me to walk the short distance home, the bread was a soggy mess. All in all, a rare misstep for Kafka's/Lil' Bird. Some small changes could improve the ME -- rethink bread choice, add some crunch, and definitely need a tangy acidic element to round it out.

Lil Bird Sandwiches has a listing on Google Maps as well at the same address, which can be confusing. Kafka's is the place, and they serve Lil Bird's sandwiches. I saw that they had a vegan sandwich, so I phoned in an order for pick-up on a Sunday around 1pm. I got the Marrakesh ($12 plus tax), a sandwich with rye bread, curry spiced cauliflower, tahini, a spicy Moroccan sauce, arugula, and tomato. The flavours are decent; the cauliflower and tahini go well together, but the bread becomes a bit soggy, and the sandwich is pretty messy, with cauliflower pieces easily falling out. All in all, a decent but overpriced sandwich that is quite messy to eat. Not a bad option if in the area.

One of the best coffee shops in town, also was able to get a tasty avocado toast while I was there. I wish they had more vegan pastries, but they had an amazing carrot muffin, so I can't really complain.

Excellent pour over (and pretty quick!), super friendly staff, and an overall great vibe. Would recommend.

The only good cup of decaf coffee I've found in Vancouver. Their baked goods are fantastic too.

The ambiance of this place was great, laid back, and exactly the type of vibe I love in a coffee shop. I had an americano and the espresso was excellent. It was clear that the barista knew what they were doing! Of the numerous coffee shops (6) I have tried over the past few days, Kafka takes the cake so far!

The coffee was great. The environment was not.
