Your driver, in a Toyota Sienna with a Canadian flag, nearly hit pedestrians at West 41st and Arbutus — then had the nerve to stick out both middle fingers at them. This is disgusting, dangerous, and completely unacceptable. If you care at all about your customers and public safety, fire this driver immediately.
Do better — or lose the community’s trust.
Great people here
I recently visited Canada from the United States and had an absolutely terrible experience with a business that felt completely dishonest. When it was time to pay, I was told they only accepted cash and not cards, which was already frustrating. Since I only had U.S. dollars, they offered to exchange the currency for me. The total price was 129 CAD, which should have been about 89 USD. Instead, they charged me 110 USD—an outrageous difference.
While I understand there might be slight price differences depending on where you exchange currency, this fee was beyond excessive. When I calmly pointed this out and said there shouldn’t be such an unreasonable markup, they started yelling at us. Their behavior was not just unprofessional but outright aggressive. To make matters worse, they refused to give me a receipt, leaving me with no proof of the transaction.
This entire experience felt like a scam, and it left me feeling angry, frustrated, and helpless, especially since we were in a foreign country and couldn’t do much about it. This is unacceptable behavior from any business, and it ruined what should have been a simple transaction. I would strongly warn others to avoid this place at all costs.
It's been a while since I last grabbed a banh mi st Kim Chau Deli. 13 years actually. Back then, the banh mis were about $3. When I visited this August, their special bsnh mi dac biet was $7. Still relatively cheap compared to some other places these days.
This is not a sit down place. There's a small cash register to the side and a tiny menu with their banh mi offerings. The banh mi is still pretty good... as close to a classic banh mi that I recall. Obviously, the bun really makes the banh mi and it was crusty but not overly.
The food in this store is mediocre and the worst thing is the service attitude of the staff.
I will forever miss this business, honestly stumbling upon this place was without a doubt one of the best things to happen while living in such a harsh city.
Reading through all the 1 star reviews over years and facing the same situation just now, I have to admit Kim Chau Deli provides the worst service I’ve ever experienced in Vancouver. The cashier, appears to be the owner or the owner’s relatives is extremely rude. I asked her about one of the products and instead of giving the answer, she made her face and replied awfully. Absolutely rank it “0” instead of “1” if there’s a choice. I definitely will not recommend the store to anyone.
??Quick Bites, Big Flavors: Kim Chau Deli's Vietnamese Subs ?Grabbed a quick take-out lunch from Kim Chau Deli Ltd. and was impressed with their Vietnamese subs. Simple, delicious, and authentic. A great choice for a flavorful meal on the go in Vancouver. ?

Restaurantji Recommends
Food was ok, customer service was really bad
Great subs, really like the marinated pork. It's fresh and cheap! Cash only though
My personal favourite deli
This is the best Vietnamese deli!! Their bahn mi sandwiches are amazing, and the homemade items are restaurant quality. In fact, they have supplied many restaurants in the Vancouver area with traditional Vietnamese foods like spring rolls, etc. Take some home today!
I personally have never been here but my fiancé works next door as a Forman on a job site ( construction). He usually works Monday to Friday but had to work a random Saturday this month. After a hard day of work he went to go get his lunch not knowing it was a cash only facility. He was willing to run across the street and pull out money to pay but the owner was generous enough to give him a free meal and thank him for the job he was doing next door. I wanted to review this business and say thank you, as you do not find many people in this world anymore as kind as this woman was. So thank you for your generosity very much and for being such a kind person.
