This is a truly hidden gem in Vancouver Downtown
We keep coming back to Kin’s as this is by far the best Chinese bistro in Vancouver!
The chef puts so much love into every dish, making each one perfect.
Since it is a one-man show, so be expected the dinner may takes hours, but it’s totally worth it.
Don’t come here if you want fast food—this place is for enjoying slow, incredible meals.

Understaffed and poor understanding of hospitality. We were super understanding at first because I could see that they were struggling with demand, so I didn’t say anything about my missed drink order. We ordered their special clams when we sat down, and continued to look at what else to order. Shortly after we added the curry brisket. After that, another table of two was sat beside us. After waiting about 30+ minutes for anything to come to our table, the guests sat after us, complained about how long they have been waiting. The chef and the server (who I think are the owners) decided that they took priority over us, and they were receiving dish after dish. My mom and I, we only ordered two dishes. I had a chat with our server about the situation and she told me because the table beside us complained, they made their food first. I reminded them that we had ordered the clams an hour ago and it still hasn’t come. I sat back down and she proceeded to let the table beside us know that they were out of clams. We got our first dish (the clams) about an hour and a half after being seated. I’m pretty certain that the clams would have gone to the table beside us if I hadn’t had that chat with our server.

Either way, I came to kin’s food & bistro excited and left disappointed.

The clams did not look like they were prepared with consistent ingredients because they looked different from the ones that were sitting on another table when we walked in. The curry beef brisket was bland and under seasoned with little to no curry sauce. They also ran out of rice which was supposed to come with our curry, and only proceeded to notify us after they served the beef brisket.

I hope they figure it out, but I don’t have much optimism about that.

Hidden gem. Top notch quality.

King's Food and Bistro is an underrated spot in downtown. The Hong Kong cafe food is superb, albeit a little salty at times. It's only gotten better each time I've gone. The only issue is that the food takes time to come out, but it's well worth it if you want to have a nice conversation before you eat.

This place is hands-down one of the best meals we’ve ever had. It’s a small, family-owned Cantonese restaurant where everything is made from scratch with so much care and attention to detail. You can taste the love in every bite.

We ordered a ridiculous amount of food, and every single dish was phenomenal—flavorful, authentic, and perfectly cooked. The portions were huge, but we couldn’t stop eating because everything was just that good.

The chef is incredibly talented and clearly passionate about what he does. He checked in on us, making sure everything was just right. The waitress was just as amazing—super friendly, attentive, and took the time to chat with us throughout our meal.

Honestly, this place is worth any wait. If you’re even considering it, just go. You won’t regret it. This is the kind of restaurant you’ll keep coming back to, and we can’t wait to go again next time we’re in beautiful BC!!!!

Most disgusting food experience I’ve ever had. I never give reviews and only giving one star because I have to. The food was swimming in oil, the noodles were burnt, the broccoli wasn’t cooked and the chicken looked like it’s been cooked and frozen long enough. My boyfriend and I had a bite each of our dishes and couldn’t eat it. When we left the guy who works there didn’t even bother asking why we didn’t touch our food (I’m guessing they knew why) so the service was less than one star.Never ever going back NOT recommendinG !

Can you do one and a half stars? That’s the question my friend asked after our awful dining experience. We waited over 2 hours for the food. He got the order wrong and we ended up eating the wrong item anyway because we were starving. This place sucks.

Wanted to look through their menu but it's only on Instagram and I'm not a subscriber.

The environment is average, with a musty smell that isn't pleasant.

Overall, the food was disappointing. We ordered four dishes. The first was the yellow eel rice, which was quite good. In fact, I think it's the best eel clay pot rice I've had among the eight places I've tried in Vancouver because the eel was crispy(爽脆). However, the other dishes were subpar. We ordered salt and pepper tiger prawns, but the shrimp were just ordinary prawns, not tiger prawns, and they were overly salty. The dry-fried beef rice noodles was the worst I've had in Vancouver—the beef was tough and very salty. The entire dish was greasy, with a strong oil flavor, as if it had been cooked in oil used for frying. Finally, the beef short ribs were also so salty that I could barely eat them; I had to rinse them in water several times just to manage.

Another point I didn’t like was that we wanted to order pineapple buns, but the server said we had to reserve them by phone. The same went for the braised short ribs. However, these requirements were not clearly indicated on the menu.

Also, we had a 5:30 reservation, but the chef arrived at the restaurant only at that time. Shouldn’t the chef arrive at least an hour before opening to prepare?

I feel this restaurant is careless about its food and business. It's not worth trying, and you shouldn't easily trust the promotions on Instagram. Everyone should be cautious about checking it out.

A friend really wanted to try their sweet and sour pork after hearing her friend raving about it. I’m typically not a big fan of SS pork. Although it is as authentic as it can be for Cantonese cuisine, it conjures a certain stereotypical perception of the typical North American Chinese restaurant.

I was very wrong of my presumption until I checked out their dishes online and after my visit. The restaurant serves authentic Hong Kong bistro dishes. Some of them carry innovative twists.

For the 2 of us, we had (1) sweet and sour pork (named differently on the menu but it’s easy to find) (2) deep fried beef brisket (3) pan fried oyster pancake.

I’ll start with the SS pork. I did love it at Kin’s. Unlike similar dishes in other restaurants, the pieces at Kin’s are not coated with a thick layer of batter hiding a tiny bit of pork. The pork pieces at Kin’s are juicy and coated with a thin layer of batter. We could actually taste the pork. The sauce was not overpowering but the slight tartness made you want to eat another piece, and another piece, and another piece …

The deep fried beef brisket was very rich. It would have paired if we had ordered a very light dish to go with it but it tasted good. I took the left over home and served it to my dad the next day. He quite enjoyed it. We usually have beef briskets in soups or stews so the deep fried version was a welcoming twist for us.

The pinnacle of our dinner was the oyster pancake. It was pan fried golden brown. The first bite was crispy but the chewiness (good chewiness) of the sweet potato starch used in pancake soon followed. We had oysters in every bite. I grew up eating oyster pancakes very often in Hong Kong as my mother’s family is from Chiu Chow. We recently had oyster pancake at a fairly new Chiu Chow restaurant near City Hall and it was NOTHING compared to Kin’s. The oyster pancake was a special at Kin’s the evening we visited and I hope enough patrons order the dish so it goes into the menu. My mother would have loved it.
