Lovely food! Not too salty and well worth the trip. The duck soba was really good.

Great atmosphere and customer service. Not many seatings but the interior and the lighting felt cozy for a date night. We ordered couple of rolls, nigiri sushi, and salmon ishinabe as a group. The pricing on these were on the high end so we did have a higher expectation on the quality. The fish used for the rolls and the nigiri were fresh but nothing crazy to justify the price. The salmon ishinabe was good but felt the sauce they added at the end was bit overwhelming. Perhaps too buttery and sweet for my liking.Overall, they used fresh ingredient but definitely felt the price didn’t reflect the overall taste of these dishes we’ve ordered. The presentation of some of these dishes other people ordered were fancy so I have to assume those experiences were priced in.Feels like there are better alternatives for the quality but for the overall experiences + atmosphere, why not.

fantastic food but service could have been better. they were able to specially make an older menu item for us that was recommended by a friend (tuna tataki) but upon removing the plate the waitress snatched it so aggressively that all the remaining ponzu splashed onto the table and on me and my friend. we were both wearing black but some of it got onto my white jacket. the server did not apologize. all she said was “oh..” and went to get napkins. then said “i don’t think ponzu stains, but yeah i’m not used to holding this plate because we don’t have this item on the menu.” maybe next time don’t blame it on the plate and take some accountability for your mistake.

Excellent food, terrible service. Hosts were super rude and inattentive. Told my party who had been waiting for 45 minutes to leave for another 20 minutes even though they were actively cleaning a table for us. I felt like I had to beg them to even acknowledge me at the door. So instead of leaving we just sat in the doorway waiting area and they sat us 30 seconds later. You might consider providing some professional training for your hosts.

It is always busy and your waiting time could be 45+ mins so definitely book ahead. I enjoyed the Chirashi box the most; it was beautiful and fun trying all the different fish I wouldn’t normally order. The salmon sashimi tasted fresh and the sushi we tried was average (I still think the box is more worth it). Unfortunately we didn’t like the homemade gyoza, it tasted dry and the tomato ponzu threw me off. Received no service but it was kind of nice if you wanted to be left alone with company. Worth trying!

It was fantastic, would highly recommend the soba noodles with duck and sable fish. The desert was quite an experience as well, we took home a pint of the sorbet ?

I'm amazed it gets such a high rating. The server seems dissatisfied with his work. The salmon oshi was delicious however the rolls we bought were not as good as those at other sushi establishments.Note that no soy sauce, wasabi, or ginger was provided.Restaurant has a more Western approach.

First of all, the presentation of the food here is absolutely beautiful and pieces of fine art! The smoked oshi was delicious and the smoke effect made it super fun. The sunchoke soup was mesmerizing to stare at and played on various textures including foam. The Sunchoke soup was actually delicious. The Uni egg looked great too, one of the Uni was fresh and delicious but the second Uni was totally dead and tasted rancid and old!The miso soup was standard. The Chirashi looked again, amazing, with flowers and colourful squares of toppings. However, the freshness of the fish was lacking, and the topping to rice ratio was off with much more rice and a thin amount of topping ratio. Also, the rice was on the harder side and didn’t taste as fresh as it could be.Overall, beautiful food with average taste.

There are some really nice spots to eat in Van - some are worth it and some overhyped (Tojos.) This one is deserving and the price is very fair. I even wanted to steal those red and black dishes. Everyone at the table LOVED the food. A tasty evening right up there with Kingyo.

Very tasty and fresh food. One of the few okonomiyaki you can find in town, and great partnerships with local farms.
