A Hidden Gem for the Best Canelés in Vancouver!
La Bise Bakery is an absolute must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth exploring Granville Island. Tucked away in the vibrant Granville Island Public Market, this charming bakery specializes in what might be the most perfect canelés in the city.
From the moment we approached the stall, we were drawn in by the beautiful display of freshly made canelés, each one gleaming with a perfect caramelized crust. The server was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and even offered us a free sample of their salted caramel flavor. It was delicious—rich and decadent without being overly sweet, which convinced us immediately to buy more.
We ended up ordering the matcha (a limited-time flavor!) and the pistachio. The matcha canelé was a standout—it had an intense, authentic matcha flavor that truly burst through with every bite. I highly recommend trying it while it's still available! The pistachio was also delightful, with a subtle nutty sweetness.
For those who can't decide, they offer a small box with an assortment of all their flavors, which is perfect for sharing or for indulging all by yourself. The quality and care put into each pastry are evident, from the crispy exterior to the soft, flavorful center.
Between the exceptional pastries, the lovely service, and the lively market atmosphere, La Bise Bakery made for a memorable stop. I will definitely be back to try more flavors and to introduce my friends to this delightful find!

Perfectly crisp on the outside and creamy inside. Love their canelés!
The cannelé and my lactose intolerance didn’t get along, but the taste—and the lovely girl serving—made it worth it. 10/10 ❤️

Coming here for a while. But one day we went to grab some canelé , we where lining up and the lady just totally ignored us and helped the other customer. This upset me and to think of it there’s plenty of places you can grab the same pastry, their service should be good.

Quick disclaimer : i'm french and a cannelé purist
Maybe this is what people expect in canada for a cannelé, but i'm disapointed. The exterior of a cannelé isn't supposed to be crunchy, and the inside has to be cooked not almost liquid.
There's rum in the recipe, one should be able to taste it !
The price would be right if they were any good.

Why haven’t I had caneles until now?! Woah! One of my favorite sweet treats I’ve eaten. We got 6 different kinds and I don’t think you can go wrong. They almost taste like a basque cheesecake and crème brûlée combined with the best chewiness. Ahhh! I will dream about these until I can come back again for more!

Passion fruit canele was really good, first time having a canele. Just a little expensive considering their size.
