The light is kinda too dim. I was late for my reservation but the staffs were very nice in trying to accommodate last minute booking. They have changed their menu since my last visits. Their course menu and a la cart is both good. I would come back and recommend to others :)
There's too much that is great about this restaurant

Beautiful restaurant, strange menu. This place as a recommendation from a friend as we visited Vancouver. The restaurant is beautiful and has great ambience. The service was five star for sure. Great people. I just hate to say that I really did not enjoy the food.. as you can each dish is absolutely beautifully plated. We ordered the chef’s tasting menu and I just didn’t really like one dish. There was nothing that was delicious unfortunately. There was definitely aspects that I liked for example The risotto dish was ordered because I absolutely love risotto. The crispy chicken skin on top was delicious, but the actual risotto was strange. There was more onions than there was actual risotto and it wasn’t really appetizing. It lacked flavor. One the fish dishes were definitely overcooked.. I liked the octopus dish with the polenta, but it was a strange combo. Steak tartar is also one of my favourite things and we started with that and it was delicious, but it was only one bite not like an actual puck if that makes. perhaps I’m missing something but it just didn’t appeal to me. We spent a lot of money this night and left really full because of the amount of food we ordered, but I didn’t enjoy it. Service was top-notch all I have to say.
Very good food, tasting menu and wine pairing. Must visit! Compared to other more expensive restaurants, this one is way better in food and service
A lovely birthday dinner at L’Abattoir. We tried their $140 tasting menu along with the $90 wine pairings. We especially enjoyed the bread, the asparagus salad, and the rhubarb pudding — all beautifully prepared. One small note: the food runner seemed a bit rushed and lacked the warmth or engagement we experienced from the rest of the staff. Still, overall a wonderful evening with memorable food and atmosphere.
Had the opportunity to do a fixed menu here through Visa and it was absolutely amazing! I have always liked this restaurant and the fixed menu was absolutely delicious and an amazing value.
Service was top notch despite the busy event, our water glasses were always full. The food came out at a decent pace, and the cocktails were made promptly.
This place is a must try if looking for an upscale dining experience in downtown Vancouver.
Edit: came here for another tasting and it was just as good as I remembered. The only thing on the menu that was a bit of a miss for me was the leeks. Not really my cup of tea.
The staff makes the experience more enjoyable, but the sauce tastes too salty for me…
Yummy oysters and good service from our server! Would like to try again!
Excellent food and service.

A Memorable Anniversary Dinner at L’Abattoir
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at L’Abattoir, and it was truly a wonderful night. The restaurant has two distinct areas — a stylish bar and a warm, elegant dining space. We dined in the dining area with our kids, and we were pleasantly surprised by how welcoming they were to families.
We ordered two Chef’s Tasting Menus, and every single dish was beautifully crafted, full of flavor, and thoughtfully presented. The attention to detail was impressive.
We also ordered cheese spaghetti for the kids, and to our surprise — they loved it so much they each finished a full plate! They even asked if we could come back again!
The service was excellent — our waitress was friendly and gave great cocktail recommendations. This place is now on our list for future special occasions. Highly recommended!
Excellent Excellent Excellent
L’abbattoir provides an exceptional dining experience in a cozy setting. The food is delicious & meticulously presented. I often go to the restaurant for Happy Hour to enjoy an expertly prepared mocktail. The Pacific baked oysters, octopus, foie gras, and ceviche are a few of my fav appetizers. It is located in Gastown, the historic area of downtown Vancouver.
I recently had dinner at L'Abattoir and was blown away by the incredible food, impeccable service, and stylish ambiance. Every dish was beautifully prepared, with standout flavors. The wine pairing suggestions were also spot-on.
The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, making the experience even more enjoyable. The Gastown location adds such a cool, historic vibe to the evening.
Highly recommend L'Abattoir for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Vancouver. Can’t wait to return!
Had an overall great dining experience. We ate octopus, steak tartare and veal which were all delicious. My only four star was because the tables were cramped so close together it was a bit hard to have a conversation. Nice staff, very professional and friendly.
