This place was DELICIOUS. I loved their North-east vegetable salad with its flavours and textures and their oysters were a huge stand out for me. Couldn’t get enough of them!

Surprisingly the best sesame cold noodles (liangpi) I’ve had in Greater Vancouver — and I’m from Northeast China! Never thought a BBQ place like Kao Zhi Wei would make such authentic, smooth, refreshing liangpi, but it’s truly amazing.

Their grilled catfish is delicious with crispy skin and tender meat. The owner remembering customers’ spice levels is a really nice touch. Oysters are big, fresh, and come in four flavors — the black bean one is my favorite.

Skewers are solid too, especially the chicken cartilage and the bean-curd cilantro roll.
Portions are generous, and the value sets online are great for saving a bit.

Everything we tried was a hit. Highly recommend!

The grilled fish here is really great. I first tried it when I just came to Vancouver, and even after 10 years it still has the same familiar taste. It feels like they’ve added more dishes now, so there are more options to choose from.😋😋😋

We ordered the grilled fish, stir-fried clams, skewers, Northeastern cold noodles, grilled oysters & scallops, and instant noodles, and we loved every single dish! Especially the egg fried rice! Our kid absolutely loved it. It’s rare to find such authentic grilled fish and BBQ skewers in North America — they are definitely must-try dishes!

The owner was super friendly and welcoming, which made our experience even better. I’ll definitely recommend this place to all my friends and come back again!

Visited Li’s China Grill for the first time and was super impressed by their food! We tried their whole Chinese Perch with sour cream bean paste sauce - super saucy and delicious and perfect with a plain bowl of white rice!

Their skewers were also flavourful with bold Chinese spices (we chose not spicy) - highly recommending their ribeye (so tender!) & honey chicken knees (crunchy and sweet glazed!)

Some of their small dishes were authentically spicy so they are truly for those who love sichuan or northern Chinese type of spice! They also offer some non-spicy dishes as well and we hope to try for our next visit!

We were invited to try Li’s China Grill for their famous Grilled Fish and BBQ skewers! We were recommened the Chinese Perch in Spicy & Chinese Spice flavor and we thought the fish was very tender. The BBQ skewers were suited to my taste with plenty of seasonings and the meat was flavorful. A really unique dish was the Cold Noodles North Eastern Style which had vinegar & sesame paste for a savory nutty flavor to cool you down. The Spicy Fried Clams were full of meat and not too spicy at all. My absolute favorite was the Deep Fried Salted Egg Yolk shrimp which had an abundance of egg yolk paste on it and crunchy big shrimps. I would totally come back to drink and have snacks here. Definitely check them out the next time you’re in Burnaby!

The skewers were good! I came around 5pm and it stayed busy the entire time. I especially liked the Northeast-style vegetable salad - it had bean curd or maybe sweet potato wide chewy noodles in a peanut, sesame, and vinegar dressing. Super refreshing and flavorful.

Everything was below average - the oysters, chicken wings, beef tongue were average, and the skewers were just so so - they put them on this tray over 2 tiny candles which did zero things.

The restaurant serves the most authentic grilled fish I’ve had in Vancouver — it instantly reminded me of the flavors from my hometown. 🐟🔥

The grilled fish is the star here: crispy on the outside, tender inside, and soaked in rich, spicy, numbing flavors that taste just like the real deal back in China. The aroma of chili, Sichuan peppercorn, and peanuts makes it impossible to stop eating.

The garlic pork slices are another must-try — soft, juicy, and bursting with garlicky, spicy goodness. And the grilled oysters? Absolutely amazing — golden, garlicky, and so fresh.

The restaurant is clean, service is friendly, and the portions are generous. It’s rare to find a place that captures such authentic taste overseas, but Kao Zhi Wei really delivers.
