Good quality of food for relatively low prices compared to other spots on campus. The rice in the rice bowls was very plain, but otherwise the mushroom ricotta rice bowl was delicious.
Also a good variety of indoor and outdoor seating (both sun and shade).
Good food and coffee. Unfortunately I was behind a person who ordered 20 latte so i was a bit annoyed that they where understaffed to deal with it
Great prices for drinks!
I came here to spend a relaxing afternoon at the café, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. I started with lunch, which cost $17 for a very small sandwich—quite pricey for the portion. I followed that with a cookie and a cocktail, bringing my total to about $35.
When I was packing up to leave, I went to ask for a bag for my cookies. Despite standing there waiting, the staff seemed too preoccupied socializing among themselves over a bowl of chips & guacamole to acknowledge me, while only one kind and attentive staff member was actually helping the line.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience given the price point.
I got a cup of soup and it was 5.5 cad only for it to not even be full. They took us 20 minutes to bring this too. Plus don't even get me started on the bread they give us...
First of all, the location is extraordinary. There are also many seating options with a great view, plus because it somewhat shares the space with the alumni centre, you can choose to cozy up in other adjacent areas like those by the fireplace or piano lounge.
Second of all, I really enjoy their lattes. They are always done very well. The breakfast options are also good.
Great coffee
Best breakfast sandwiches and coffee!
Best coffee and pastries on campus, with high standards in all areas. Shocking, I know.
Although the eating space was pretty cramped when I got there, I didn't mind taking my coffee to go. Great service at the cash register and an awesome coffee. Worth the price.

I recently visited Loafe Cafe and had a mixed experience. The Huli Huli chicken sandwich was disappointing—completely tasteless and definitely overpriced for what it was. On the bright side, the Earl Grey tea latte was excellent—perfectly made and one of the best I’ve had in a while.
However, what really stood out was the service. Despite ordering food, we were politely asked to leave to free up some seats for other customers. While I appreciate the politeness, it was frustrating considering we were paying customers.
Overall, Loafe Cafe has potential, but they need to improve on the food quality and customer experience to justify the prices.
A great spot to visit during Happy Hour, conveniently located near the UBC Bookstore. They have outdoor picnic tables, perfect for enjoying sunny days. While their morning coffee and pastries are tasty, the lunch menu and beer selection are somewhat limited. Additionally, the food options are on the pricier side, with smaller portion sizes.

Subpar experience at Loafe for brunch on a Friday. The location is quite popular for students, with many tables filled by students with their laptops/books! We couldn't find an available table, so had to settle for sofas outside the café (inside the alumni centre). I could barely taste the oat milk in my decaf Americano, and the blend was not very strong itself. The hot chocolate was fine. The Mushroom Ricotta Rice Bowl ($13.95) had a nice marinade on the mushrooms, and a decent amount of ricotta (on a bed of rice and arugula). The rice is very plain, and perhaps a little mushy/overcooked.
I was disappointed with their Midnight in Havana Rice Bowl ($15), having asked for no arugula, and it coming with the bowl anyways. The place was packed so I didn't feel like asking them to remove it. The pork shoulder was not tender (it was more like dry pulled pork). They were able to use a balsamic dressing instead of their garlic aioli at my request, which was nice of them to accommodate. There are some inconsistencies with their in-store menu and what's online on their Square site, as the Square site says the bowl comes with caramelized onions, but in-store it's pickled onions. On top of the pickled jalapenos, I thought it was too much acidity toppings wise and would have benefited from the caramelized type. Self-service after you receive your order. Would be interested in trying their baked goods (which are unlabelled in their display case), but would skip the bowls.
great service but do not order the matcha - tasted like water
