Good service and overall good food, though nothing particularly outstanding. The curry dishes were flavorful, and the mussels were fresh. The Pad Thai, however, was a bit too dry for my taste.

Michelin guide 🤔

I will be honest I went to Maenam expecting not to enjoy it as someone of Laotian decent finding good Thai food in the greater Vancouver has been a challenge as it can be difficult to find Thai food that is not just Pad Thai, Pad Kra Pao, and Pad Kee Mao; while Maenam has Pad Thai it has many other dishes that reminded me of visiting family in Thailand. I especially enjoyed having nam pla to add to rice and dishes for an extra kick/salty flavor its a small touch and I'm sure most people don't even use it but as someone of Southeast Asian decent it made me feel right at home. The servers were excellent as they made sure that we were full on water and checked in with us throughout the evening. We even noticed that when we ordered dessert we were supposed to receive 2 however we were provided with 3 of the taro custards to ensure all 3 member of our party had their own dessert. These type of small touches make us feel welcomed and elevated our experience significantly. Every dish we had was delicious, every drink was refreshing especially the Earth and Cloud. We look forward to the next opportunity we have to dine at Maenam.

It’s nice atmosphere but the food is very mediocre. The coconut soup had no coconut taste, instead it tasted like sour cream.
The chicken curry was too sweet.
The lingcod had a very thick and hard coating and was in big chunks. The flavor was only on the outside, the middle of the chunk had no taste.
I have no idea how this place go on Michelin.

Wow. What an incredible experience. We have a fairly high bar for Thai cuisine and Maenam exceeded our expectations. The thoughtfulness of each dish and the flavour profile in even the smallest of bites was outstanding. The service was attentive, warm, and consistent throughout the night. Chef Angus An and team, well done!

Appetizers are beyond amazing! Desserts are great too. However the main courses fall flat but nevertheless I enjoyed it so much because of the friendliest, most personable service from the staffs here. One of the spots I will keep coming back.

5 stars always! One of the best restaurants in Vancouver and certainly the best Thai restaurant in the city.

Maenam is one of those restaurants that truly stands out for its unique ingredient combinations and bold, creative flavours. Even though the menu looks meat-heavy at first glance, don’t let that scare you, they accommodate vegetarians with no problem. Just let your server know when you sit down, and they’ll happily guide you through options or make adjustments.

The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell they really care about both the food and the experience. Service is perfectly paced, giving you time to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a cozy dinner or a special night!

I’ll definitely be coming back many more times. Maenam has quickly become one of my favourite spots in Vancouver!

I would rate everything a 5 star except for one thing- they calculate the tip post tax on the receipt. I am a little disappointed that such a fantastic restaurant does this, but at the same time it’s not a huge deal. Just a minor blip in the grand scheme of things

My AI said fable kitchen in KITSILANO made excellent soup. When I asked the receptionist, she said no soup for you. What? They don’t serve soup at dinner time. Maenam is right next door and I had an excellent experience there a long time ago. After consulting the chef I was able to order Tom Kha mushroom soup. It was a curry based white soup with nice greens and all kinds of exotic mushrooms. You couldn’t even buy them for the price of the bowl of soup. It wasn’t too spicy for this Irish potato, loving guy. Without waxing to poetic, it was excellent. Staff was great. Nice people nice food nice little restaurant. I highly recommend it.

I recently dined at Maenam as a group of four, and unfortunately the food doesn't command the price of the meal. It was a rather disappointing meal with very little that redeems it. We had ordered ala carte, and most of the dishes were not great.

Crispy Rice w/ Sausage - the dish was very one note, and that note is sour. It was just a very sour dish that needed something to mellow it out. More of the herbs probably would have helped.

Tom Kha Soup - This was ok. Some in my group didn't like it as much, but it could just be because it was served at the same time as the crispy rice appetizer, and the sourness just messed with everyone's palate.

Grilled Beef Salad - This dish was terrible. It just reminded me of a worse version of larb. The beef was so overcooked and dry. It had a lot of Thai flavors, but the beef killed it. just turn it into larb and mince up the beef and it would be less problematic.

Chicken Curry - Probably the best dish of the night, but it's pretty typical of any other Thai restaurant in the city. Just more expensive and less of it.

Pad Thai - It's Pad Thai. Same as you will ever have it elsewhere.

Lobster Clay Pot - Lobster was overcooked. Dish was fine otherwise. The noodles had flavor, but nothing particularly special about the rest of it. The lobster didn't have a sauce or anything. It was just cooked in the pot on top of noodles. I could have steamed a lobster and it would have been the same thing.

Drinks - All pretty average. Their version of an espresso martini was terrible though. It was incredibly watered down and muted.

Overall, service and food was pretty mediocre. For $450, after tax and tip, there are an infinite number of other restaurants that I would much rather spend my money at. I definitely wouldn't go back or recommend it to others to even try.

Had high hopes for a Michelin rated restaurant. But it was disappointing unfortunately the $92 per person set menu was just mid. The snacks were very pretty, but strange tasting. The halibut hot and sour soup and the Wagyu beef salad were good. The curry and other dishes weren’t bad but if you go to your local Thai restaurant, you can get the same quality for half the price. Hubby ordered a second beer, but never got it. We were served three different kinds of bite-size dessert. Rice pudding one was the best. The other two were just OK. Since we were celebrating hubby‘s birthday, they gave us a free dessert with a candle on it. That was a very sweet and thoughtful gesture.

Food was fine. Desserts were best part. The family chef menu isn't worth it.
