the food was mediocre, the restaurant was extremely loud (they don't know how to damp surrounding sound), and we waited 1h+ for our food...

This Michelin-starred Thai restaurant serves Thai cuisine in a refined, elegant style. The dishes are beautifully plated, full of flavor, and perfect for a special dining experience. 🍛

Great ambiance and service, but the actual food was very lacking. Feels like every dish was dunked in massive amounts of lime juice? It felt like working through different combinations of sour patch candy...

If you want to eat authentic thai food this restaurant is not it...

The dishes were full of flavor, with a great balance of sweetness, spice, and acidity. The spices and herbs instantly reminded me of Thailand. The banana blossom salad was especially memorable — my first time trying it, and a very interesting experience. The desserts, panna cotta and cashew cake, were also quite good.

The only drawback is the pricing, which feels a bit high for the seafood quality, could be better or more consistent. Service was excellent and the staff were very friendly, though the space is somewhat cramped and can get noisy, especially near the entrance.

Had a phenomenal date night here this evening. Everything was top notch and they truly made us feel like VIPs. We were greeted right away, shown to a lovely table, our coats were taken, water glasses stayed full all night, and plates were cleared the moment we even hinted at tidying up ourselves. Our server Jamie was incredibly sweet and gave excellent recommendations.

The portions were generous. We couldn’t finish it all and had to bring some home. They were kind enough to pack this up for us in the back.

This is easily in our top 3 restaurants in Kits that we recommend. We will definitely be back once Dine Out is over.

Don’t waste your time and money here. I came to this place 3 times (because it’s on Michelin recommendation), but there were more than half of the dishes we tried were just not tasty at all. The service was also bad, they don’t care recommending/introducing dishes. I’m surprised such a low bar restaurant is hard to get on wait list. Total waste of money and time. Would not recommend.

Very friendly staff. The Dine out dinner menu had enough options for us to choose from. You could probably enjoy the same menu more than once.

Atmosphere lost points because there’s a large freezing draft every time the door opens. Not much they can really do about that though.. bring an extra blanket or a coat if you feel cold easily.

BEWARE!! This restaurant has changed to a fixed price menu for weekend reservations. My friend booked the reservation and instead of me getting $30 pad thai (like I wanted) we had to pay $92 per person!!! Maenam is good - but definitely not a place I'd pick out to drop that kind of money!!! The food was okay - but not worth over $200. Will never be going again. It's extremely frustrating because if we had just walked in - we could have ordered a la carte. And the pad thai was not even on the menu - you had to order it extra. Unbelievable!

We had an incredible dining experience at Maenam yesterday evening. We ordered the chef’s menu, and because there were four of us, we were able to select two dishes for each course (soup, stir fry, and curry) along with the set courses for appetizers, relish, and desserts. Everything they served us was amazing. The presentation was beautiful and the food was incredibly flavorful and refined. I love Thai food, but this was three or four levels above anything I’ve had before. The chef and supporting cast in the kitchen are clearly masters of their craft. The serving staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to talk about the food. They’re clearly proud of the dishes that they’re bringing out. We all had high expectations based on the reviews we had read, but our experience exceeded all of them. We can’t wait to go back!

From chef-owner Angus An, this Michelin-Recommended Thai gem delivers bold, fresh flavours balanced beautifully with seasonal ingredients and locally sourced produce. Tried the Family-Style Chef’s Menu, featuring three snacks, a relish, soup, salad, curry, stir-fry, and assorted desserts. The entire spread was impeccably executed, a true roller-coaster of flavours, textures, and aromas from start to finish. This was a feast that hits every note, refined, vibrant, and deeply satisfying.

Service here is genuinely next-level. Everyone was attentive and kind without ever feeling pushy. Little things stood out all night: water refills without asking, thoughtful check-ins about drinks, extra napkins appearing at the right time, and they even moved us to a larger table proactively. At the end of the night they had our jackets ready before we asked. The whole team had a warm, upbeat energy—almost family-like—and it honestly felt like being looked after in Thailand.

Food-wise, everything was good, but not exceptional, especially given how competitive Vancouver’s Thai scene has become. We tried the $92/person tasting menu. It’s a lot of food, the duck salad was lovely, and the lamb shank curry was solid, but nothing really wowed us. I’d also agree with other reviewers that the tasting menu feels a bit overpriced for what you get, even though I understand restaurant costs are high right now.

If you want outstanding hospitality and a reliably good Thai meal, this is a great choice. If you’re going in expecting the best Thai food in Vancouver, thats a stretch, at least based on the tasting menu.
