One of the better deli in vancouver

Max’s has gone downhill in the last few years. It used to be a very high quality European-style deli but is now indistinguishable from a corporate grocery store deli.Food: Hit and miss. It looks great but their taste quality has tanked. Unsure why, maybe cheaper ingredients and sub-par process. Sometimes the baked goods are over-baked and dry. Savoury foods are often either too salty or under-seasoned.Service: I am appalled at the service level these days. The staff behind the counter has openly mocked what we ordered to each other (it was funny that someone would want something that wasn’t breakfast food at 10:30), addressed online orders in the middle of serving us, and mistakenly charged me for two of a drink item and insisted it was correct after asking where the second one would be if I hadn’t moved from the order area. It used to be a treat to chat with staff; that’s long gone. It’s worse than Tim Horton’s whose staff at least says have a nice day when you leave.Atmosphere: This was never a place for atmosphere so no change here. Clean enough and spacious enough.Summary: it’s been 27 years of business but I’m taking mine elsewhere. With the abundance of choice in Vancouver, Max’s has become a shadow of its past self. Better options are out there, you can safely skip this place.Kid-friendliness: They rudely mocked my child’s order.

I stopped in this morning because I was working in the area. Thought I should grab a couple scones. One blueberry and one cheese. The cheese one was definitely a day old. Could not eat it as it was dried out and stale. The blueberry one wasn't much better as it was also a day. I'd guess it was also a leftover product, it had blueberries in it and kept it a little bit moisture.

high prices for the quality they offer... it was my first time there and i got the toffee cake and the trio chocolate brownie, the taste was okay but the texture was awful! it was the driest piece of cake I've had in a while! never going there again!

The Princess cake (tårta) I ordered for a walk down Swedish memory lane was great! Thanks to the bakery team, it was a delicious birthday treat & celebration for all of us!

I cannot believe I hadn’t been here. The food is spectacular. Quality is good. Prices are on the high side. There are outlets on the wall and the tables are square: yay! There are a good amount of seats and lots of space. There’s savory and sweets but the baked items do run out throughout the day!Bad thing is parking is street parking and only 2 hours or else it’s permit. Prices are on the high side and the chairs are super low for what the table heights are.Parking: Limited 2 hour street parking on 15th until 6pm and then its permit only.Kid-friendliness: Kids will pick from the visual selection but might get board after a while!Wheelchair accessibility: Doors are a bit tight but it is one floor!

Varied selection of ready made savoury AND sweet foods: different salads, meat pies, samosas, dumplings, cakes, bars, tiramisu etc. First visit was weekday around lunch time, complete chaos in the store, long wait and long line, people confused as to where to go what to do how to order - would not visit around lunch hour. Second visit was 9:30/10am weekday and it was pleasant, relaxed, chill and quick prompt service.Beef pot pie and chocolate cake are my fave from the photo presented, 8/10. Butter tart crust was flakey and buttery but filling mediocre 6/10, imperial cookie was semi dry and filling way too tart 5/10. Carrot cake mediocre 6/10, sausage roll well spiced meat but dry 6.5/10, Jamaican patty lots of filling and we’ll seasoned but dough was dry and too thick 6.5/10Kid-friendliness: Lots of dessert choices for kids and adults

Very expensive; also, dried out bread on roast turkey (tasteless) and egg salad sandwiches. Both were sloppily put together (one tired piece of lettuce and a small, thin slice of tomato). I wouldn’t recommend the place.

They have everything! A great selection of beautiful (and tasty!) cakes, bars and pastries, as well as a wide variety of lunch and dinner options. The best chicken pot pie I've ever had!
