Not recommend this pastry shop! Especially for first time visitor or anyone unfamiliar with their offerings!
As a first time visitor, I asked simple questions about the pastries, and the staff was inpatient and unhelpful. Even though I chose 3 pastries within 2 minutes ( not an excessive amount of time) When I changed my mind about a bread choice, and opted for focaccia instead, the staff gave me a strange look and made comments to another staff that made me feel insulted, as if I was “stupid”for that!
At that time, the place wasn’t busy and there were no other customers. So there were no reason for such behavior. It’s normal for customers to take a moment to decide before making a purchase! I felt unwelcome and discriminated throughout the entire experience.
The food was ok, the awful experience overwhelmed everything. I also felt there were discriminatory undertones in their behavior, which only made the situation worse. This is not the experience I expected from a neighborhood pastry shop I had been excited to try.
Plz train your staff to treat customers with basic respect and professionalism! Not recommend this pastry shop to anyone!

Oh my! I thought the croissants were a little pricey until i devoured one! They are not light by any means. To be honest it was absolutely perfect!
Flakey and moist on the inside and not knowing what double baked implied, I now don’t care. Double bake away you fine bakers, I am your number one fan!

1/ Croissant au buerre – lacks the buttery taste and crisp texture of a real croissant. The flavor and texture both miss the mark, to the point where I wouldn’t even call it a croissant.
2/ Pain au chocolat – similar issues as the croissant. It’s rubbery, like chewing plastic, and the chocolate filling lacks the proper cacao content, making it overly sweet instead of balanced.
3/ Baguette – also waxy in texture. It was hard on the first bite, both inside and out, so not to mention to have it overnight. I ended up having no baguette for breakfast the day next cause I threw it away. Was impossible to eat.
4/ Coffee and service – bad and cold.
But anyway, I didn’t go for the coffee, and it’s okay if you’re not in the mood to serve.
Perhaps I’m being too harsh or expecting too much, knowing the owner/baker has worked at Mamiche in Paris 9e, my go-to boulangerie in my quartier. If that’s true, it’s disappointing and sad to see such representation of French baking. So non, merci.
+ For quality French-style bread, I recommend another bakery on Commercial Drive, called The Bench.
While not entirely authentic, they are at least honest about what they offer and come closest to French standards among the bakeries I’ve tried in Vancouver.

Bought this Nutella/custard cruffin, ate half, and noticed there’s zero Nutella.
I’ve noticed quality decline in some of there other items as well.
Furthermore, waited in line a couple weeks ago for a coffee, only to be told the machine was broken. That’s it, no other customer service or retention was offered. Disappointing.
Came back from Paris recently and found this place to be just as good as my favorites over there. The Jambon Roule reminds me of Mamiche in Paris... Which I loved so much.... And this one tastes as good or better.
Even tried their frozen packs and made them at home. Worked like a charm.
Beware: each time I go I end up buying too many pastries… And eating it all in the same day! :P
