I chose this restaurant for a special birthday dinner, and unfortunately, the experience fell short in a couple of key areas.

First, I called ahead around noon to confirm if they offered a complimentary birthday dessert. The woman on the phone said yes and instructed me to just mention it to our waiter when we arrived. I was excited about that little touch. However, when we finished our mains and I asked our waiter about it, he said they don’t offer any complimentary birthday desserts at all. I explained the phone conversation, but there was no resolution or alternative offered. It felt like either a miscommunication on their end or misleading information given over the phone — either way, it left me pretty disappointed and confused.

On the food side, most of the meal was decent, but the Aburi rolls were a letdown. We waited over 30 minutes for just two orders to come out (which seemed excessive for sushi), and when they finally arrived, they didn’t feel fresh. The sear looked like it had been done quite a while earlier — possibly sitting under a heat lamp or on the pass — as the texture was off and the smokiness wasn’t vibrant like you’d expect from freshly torched Aburi-style sushi. The rest of the dishes were okay but nothing standout.

Service otherwise was friendly enough, but the long wait and the birthday mix-up made the evening feel more frustrating than celebratory. I probably won’t be rushing back, especially for a special occasion.

Oh my goodness. Miku was a wonderful experience and can’t wait to be back. Lenny really made the experience incredible, he’s very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I’m not one to request servers but I look forward to coming back!

Chef's kiss on the entire experience. We sat at the bar and Gram (i hope that is his name) was an absolute delight. Explained everything and gave us his recommendations. Next time I have a Vancouver layover I will be back for sure.

Fantastic place to come for a high quality dinner with a splendid view. Service was excellent - always quick, concise and very informative when it came to the different dishes that were available. The sushi rolls we had were really fantastic, we recommend the Miku Roll and the Red Wave Roll.

Went here for my birthday. Was a very nice atmosphere. Food was good but I was expecting a lot better for the price and reviews. Service as good, not great.

I like to try out different veg sushi options in the city! Being a vegetarian, I found the menu limited. However, the only veg sushi they had on the menu was quite good. The ingredients were fresh and the flavours were well balanced. I loved the presentation. The sushi rolls had good texture and portion size. I must say, I was quite impressed by the only veg sushi options they provide!
Apart from the sushi, I also had the Gomae salad which was refreshing!
It is fine dining, so the prices are on a higher end. The views from the restaurant are worth the price!

Im from Japan and was craving for some good sushi. Visited this place for the first time because bunch of people hyped and recommended this place for good sushi but overall the food was average but overpriced with small portion sizes (like some others have already mentioned in their reviews). Left the place still hungry and ended up on Robson for meal #2 lol
I think this place is overhyped, maybe go with low expectation if youre first timer lol
Server was nice, host can be friendlier!
Prime location tho!

We started with the green tea, which was perfect, especially with the cold dishes. It warmed us up and tasted really good. Overall, it was a great experience. The octopus was the highlight, absolutely delicious. The calamari was very crunchy, just the way it should be, and the sushi was fresh and tasty. A really enjoyable meal from start to finish.

To be fair, the food is very fresh and tastes great. Unfortunately, everything else falls short. To start off, the waiter got our order wrong. The prices are extremely high for what you get, and the service was disappointing. We tipped $30 on a $200 bill, yet the waiter tossed the receipt onto the table and walked away without a word.

There are plenty of sushi spots in Vancouver offering similar quality at much better value and with much friendlier service. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but I won’t be returning.

We dined at Miku yesterday, Friday February 13th, for Valentine’s date night during the Family Day long weekend. It was our first time visiting, and I was especially looking forward to it since I was visiting from White Rock.

The food itself was delicious l. We ordered the Albacore tuna sashimi, calamari as an appetizer, the Miku Roll, and one of each of the Aburi selections, which were my personal favorite. Everything was fresh and artfully presented. The quality of the ingredients really stood out, and you can tell the kitchen puts care into their dishes.

The greeter and our waitress were pleasant and polite. We did have a reservation but were seated about 10 minutes late, which I understand can happen on a busy Valentine’s weekend.

What shifted the experience for us was toward the end of the evening. We were about to order dessert, something we were genuinely looking forward to, when the manager came to our table, placed the bill down, and informed us that we needed to pay as there were others waiting and we had overstayed our allotted time. The tone felt abrupt and not particularly warm.

We completely understand that restaurants implement time limits during busy holidays. However, we were not informed in advance that there was a 1.5-hour dining limit, especially considering that timing didn’t account for being seated late or waiting for food.

A heads-up earlier from the server or a more gracious approach from management would have made a big difference. There wasn’t an apology, and it left us feeling rushed at the end of what was meant to be a special evening.
When spending over $170 for a Valentine’s date night at a fine dining restaurant, we expect not only exceptional food but also attentive, elevated service and the ability to relax and enjoy the ambiance.

Which is why we’re giving 4 stars. With a more thoughtful approach to service, this easily could have been a 5-star experience. 💜
