What a hidden gem for Japanese food! Firstly, the ambiance of this hole-in-the-wall restaurant is awesome.
The sushi was incredible, and value was amazing for the price we paid. Cannot wait to return to try the other dishes.

I ordered the salmon oshi and the truffle pasta. The $18 salmon dish only had six pieces — and honestly, where was the salmon? It was an extremely thin layer, and some pieces were replaced with fish skin. The pasta didn’t have tiger prawns either, just regular white shrimp. It felt a bit misleading for customers.

Was seated next to the washroom and it smelled so bad the whole time and asked to get seated elsewhere but could not be accommodated right away
Sushi is not as fresh as before especially the spicy sashimi that comes with the combo. Pasta sauce was a bit watery.
Atmosphere was good for a special occasion but just for sushi I wouldnt come back.

As someone who doesn’t eat seafood at all I’d come here again. Rolls and sashimi were super fresh. Great waiter good guy, would go to just say hi to him. My girlfriend also really enjoyed to men take notes.

Had lunch with a business guest. No service to be seen anywhere. Waiter forgot serving utensils, napkins, soy sauce and water. It took close to an hour to get our food. When served the food was messy. Very unappealing visually. Waiter kept on apologizing but didn’t make any effort to provide a bit better service. The place has changed. I can not legitimately provide a positive response for this restaurant. For the quality compared to the price you would expect a lot better sampling of food.

I took my friend here and she LOVED it. The food was amazing and good quality. We ordered the Deluxe sashimi, Salmon Tatare, Mt Salmon roll, the yuzu soda and Grape Soda. The sodas have an option of adding sake, which was so delicious.
Every dish we ordered was amazing. Our server, Matthew was kind, welcoming and patient.
We would 100% recommend.

Outstanding hospitality at Moltan! We went as a group of 3 on a Thursday afternoon around 2pm which was off peak time so we were the only ones dining in. The staff were exceptionally attentive with our orders and ensuring our tea cups were always filled throughout our meal - we felt very well looked after and chivalry is not dead!! Our group comes from a hospitality background and Moltan is a great example of above and beyond hospitality.
We started our meal with warm bowls of miso soup, then shared an order of white lava rolls, house rolls and the chef choice 8pc nigiri. Everything tasted very fresh, we loved having the variety of different fish/fattiness types like otoro tuna and fatty salmon within the nigiri set. The portion sizes were generous, balanced ratio of rice vs toppings and the quality of the seafood were top notch. The food was plenty and more than enough to share between us three ladies (we are all roughly 5’3”).
Two of us are visiting from Toronto and one of us is local, this was all of our first visit to Moltan and we would absolutely recommend Moltan with no hesitation. The restaurant is small but intimate, great for small groups and sharing plates to split amongst friends. I look forward to my next visit to Vancouver and coming back to Moltan. 😊
