The food had the same value to its pricing, which was all pretty average. Proportions were filling, and the interior was a classic diner. Our server was efficient and quick. Everything was fine until we had to pay. Since Rogers was down, nobody was able to use their debit cards, so my friends and I had to pay in cash. As my friends and I were about to leave, our server came back to us and handed us our change, saying that it was “embarrassing to leave a 75 cent tip” and to “respect your servers”. We tried explaining to her that we didn’t have any change left, but that we could try to find some for her. She ignored that, and went on about how she has to pay the kitchen 2% of her sales. I work in the restaurant industry, so I understand her frustration, but given the circumstances it should’ve been understood that we didn’t have the means to give a tip. Regardless, I have never heard of anybody telling their tables that not leaving them a tip was disrespectful. It is also not mandatory for guests to leave a tip. That interaction really left us shook.

Went here with family, The food is good and there are a lot of options. We had the English breakfast, waffles, and the kids pancakes. Everything went great. Fast seating (we came a bit earlier, a line up does appear later in the morning) great initial service with the server. The atmosphere is quite pleasant, I always like the diner/grill vibes. The only negative here is the service after initially ordering is lacking. After our food came, we asked if they had chocolate milk (for the kid) which they said they did. We ordered it but it never came. After about 10 minutes, my wife asked for a glass of water but that never came either. Just put a damper on the experience.

This place has been my Sunday regular, after church. Warm ambience, super efficient service and the food is the best. Loads of mix n match options at just the right price. Best way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

You can never go wrong when Nelson and Joyce lead their team. This is a staple in the community and has become a landmark for brunch amongst locals. If you're looking for great service, delicious food and a warm environment, this is the place to go.

It is becoming increasingly difficult in Vancouver to find a breakfast that isn’t just trying to be flashy. Nelly’s is the first time in quite a while that I have been truly astounded at simply the quality of the food, not just the fancy expensive ingredients. The banana pancakes were amazing and the burger was everything a burger should be. Really just simple, delicious food for a good price. Will definitely be coming back frequently.

First time having brunch here... their Nelly's all time favorite fried chicken waffle benny is a must. Red velvet ♥ pancake is perfect for Valentine's ?... will be back here for sure.

Really great breakfast place. I was boring but the ham&eggs plus everything else was excellent. Loved the pan-fried potatoes, not deep fried like everyone else. Everything cooked perfectly topped off with excellent and friendly service.Really looking forward to the smoked meat hash next time.

Always a great choice for brunch! Coffee is fantastic and the food is delicious. Plus the staff are super friendly! I would highly recommend the banana pancakes or the French toast.

Nelly’s grill is located at the heart of Kitsilano, Vancouver. Its small and cozy with beautiful paintings on teh walls.ℹ️ There is usually line-up on weekends and you might need to wait for 15 to 45 minutes to be seated. The neighborhood is also a nice place to walk to the beach after having your breakfast in Nelly’s.☕️ Your coffee is refilled quickly and its like a tradition in Nelly’s so the customer spends zero moment with no coffee?? Your options for breakfast might confuse you as there are many. I recommend you try one from Hashes and one from Bennies. I, personally didn’t like the potatoes taste as I have experienced ones in similar places like Red Umbrella.☑️ One thing that might surprise you is the speed at which your order is prepared and served. Its like 5 minutes when you order and get it on the table??‍♀️ The servers are really responsive and fast and take care of your requests properly.Enjoy!?

Why wait in line for 2 hours at jam cafe when you can come here and get a better meal / better service. I love nellys. Nelly always in the back serving good food. Last time I went I was feeling a little… um… tired from the night before so I got a fruit bowl. Never had I had such a good fruit bowl. Like I understand “oh it’s only a fruit bowl like how could it be THAT good???” BUT it was incredible and just what I needed. Anyways love this spot you have to go here

Nelly’Grill on 4th Ave, off Arbutus, in Kitsilano, has myriad breakfast options , from the English Breakfast, many Benny selections to a Fried Chicken Waffle extravaganza. And breakfast is served all day from 9am to 3pm from Monday to Friday, with an earlier opening on Saturdays and Sundays at 8am and slightly later closing at 3:45 pm. It also serves lunch items. I was feeling some nostalgia for times in London, having those delicious Full English Breakfasts and sought out a place serving late breakfasts close by. I googled and found Nelly’s Grill. I called ahead to see if it had a liquor license, as I wanted to have an ale to wash down my later afternoon English breakfast I spoke to its very friendly staffer, Kiera, who assured me that it did. She and her fellow staffer, Becky, server me when I arrived. After my vaccination card was checked, I survey the charming diner, deciding to sit close to the bar/serving hatch, and a good place from which to take the picture included below Kiera was sure to, unsolicited, bring me some English HP Sauce, and included marmalade in its small containers offered with the toast, which comes along with the English breakfast. The English breakfast, included two small sausages, bacon, grilled tomato , two eggs and pan fries. It was 16:50$ and pale ale 6:50$ a can. It does not have beers on tap, as the bar space does not have the room. Nelly Grill took over the space, previously named Joe’s, and clearly has a significant number of regulars. It was steadily busy for the hour I was there, just before it’s 3pm closing. I may try that fried chicken waffle extravaganza in future. Posted by S Fuller

Chicken and waffle benny - a great idea. After reading some reviews I decided I had to try it, and I’m glad I did! The sweetness of the waffle combined with the savoury chicken was delicious! All topped off with poached eggs! You can’t go wrong with this dish
