The service and atmosphere were truly great. The staff were friendly and the space felt warm and welcoming. However, I can’t say I was impressed with the food. It was just okay, nothing particularly special. I enjoyed the experience overall, but the dishes didn’t stand out for me.

The workers were all super kind, but what made me give this place two stars is the food.
The pizza and pasta were super bland for the price to be higher than other places. I was expecting really good quality food, food that is tasty - but it was not tasty. The one pizza I got was around $26 plus tax and it had no taste and the crust was burnt at the bottom. It felt like I was eating sauce and bread since there was little cheese on top of it. Pizza from Dominos is more tasty and affordable for the quality.
Great food and service

Every time I try a restaurant in Kits I'm left with an overwhelming feeling of 'meh'. The good - Nook is lively with attentive staff. Not for those hard of hearing. Having said that, it seemed to be the only place worth visiting over a 4 block radius (lower Yew St).
Food was ok, loaded with heavy cheese on just about everything. I'm still digesting it 12 hours later. Food is simple with pizzas and pastas.
It might get more stars except for the fact if you're willing to leave the kits enclave and try next door (yaletown - per se social, as an example) for the same or less money you'll get more atmosphere, better food (pizzas there are 5 star and leave you feeling light - not easy to do) and a dining experience. Nook feels like something at home on a ski slope.
BTW - Nook should be rated as $$$ based on the price point vs the food quality (3 stars based on the price and comparisons to the high food quality generally available in Vancouver).
I've really tried to enjoy eating in Kits many times over the past 20 years, and continually the offerings (italian kitchen 3/5 food, dark table 2/5 food, nook 3/5, rommers 3.5/5, bishops (when they were alive 4/5, etc) are underwhelming when compared to gastown 4/5, yaletown - generally 5/5, downtown 5/5 and commercial drive 3-5/5 So 'meh'.
Which begs the question - why do all the reviews have copious photos of food and drinks - either looks somewhat paid for, or kits folk have nothing else to do but take photos of food. Shiny on the surface, but lacking some quality. Covers several aspects of kits.

What a wonderful, bustling, high energy place to dine with friends! We caught up with our niece and her husband who suggested this neighbourhood spot in Kitsilano, Vancouver.
It’s loud. Somewhat crowded. And a lot of fun! This is the kind of place where you might come away feeling if you pulled up your chair alongside any table you’d be made welcome, and have a memorable evening. Truly.
And isn’t that rare in this day and age?
Known to the Manager, our party happily deferred to his suggestions, and we were not disappointed. Each new shared plate was a great taste experience. The pizza of the day, the pasta, and the tiramisu.
We exited with our tummies and hearts full.
Extraordinary! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We had an amazing night at this restaurant, and a big part of it was thanks to Jane!
She made the evening feel really special — with her smile, positive energy, and attention to every detail.
From her recommendations to her overall service, everything was perfect.
The restaurant itself has a great vibe, but Jane made our experience truly unforgettable.
If you go, hope she’s your server! ✨

Very good experience, wait staff was attentive and punctual. Food tasted great and not too heavy (especially since its pasta). Will definitely come back.

We’ve been coming here for years and really love the food — it’s close to home, always consistent, and usually such an easy, no-fuss place to enjoy a meal.
That said, there’s a front of house staff member who has consistently been quite short and dismissive with us over multiple visits. It’s been disappointing, especially since we genuinely like this restaurant and want to keep supporting it.
Hopefully, this can be addressed, as it’s taken away a bit from an otherwise great local spot.

They will tell you they can take a gluten-free dish and make it relatively celiac safe, but they have now failed at this three times. I’ll never eat here again. I don’t trust them

Was excited to try this place after hearing great things. The Caesar salad and prosciutto with burrata were good, but the mains (bolognese and cacio e pepe) were overly salty. The bigger disappointment was the service—when I asked about a beverage not on the menu (my oversight), the server’s condescending response of “This is an Italian restaurant” was completely unnecessary and ruined the vibe.
