We returned 2 years later upon a return to Vancouver…dinner was packed but we were well taken care of..and yes the pomegranate humus and cauliflower apps were terrific as was every other dish we had along with a cool underground vibe, great service and wonderful homemade ginger beer…

Last week, we dined at Nuba, a restaurant that blew us away with its Mediterranean vibe and delicious food. The service was top-notch, but the seats could’ve been a bit more comfy. Overall, it was an amazing experience, though!

Smelled of garbage as the back door was open The whole evening. Had an initial server whom was great, along came another whom said she was taking over. The original kept serving us while the ‘new one’ just rushed us out. We were gong to get more food, how about tea and dessert? Very unusual. Baba Ganoij had no flavour. (Nov 9.)

We had such a great experience here. The waitress was very sweet and friendly and gave us lots of great tips for checking out the surrounding area. The food was excellent. We had the Najibs special (roasted cauliflower) and the falafel plate. Both came with pita bread, hummus and a salad. Loved the comfortable seating area as well. We will definitely be coming back.

Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan and vegetarian options

Kid-friendliness: It’s a large restaurant and looked kid friendly.

Wheelchair accessibility: No this isn’t wheelchair friendly. You have to go down a lot of stairs to get to the entrance which is underneath a building.

I had high hopes for Nuba, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. They initially promised to call us back in 30 minutes, but we never received a call. After waiting for an hour, we checked in again and were told to sit in the lounge, which was neither clean nor comfortable. I ordered the dip plate, but it was underwhelming—just a variety of hummus with nothing particularly special. We decided to leave shortly after. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

Got a chicken shish tawook, would recommend! It comes with pita. The pita is good! It’s thinner and more chewy.

Great vibes and great restaurants with friends or even for dates

Rolled into town late, walking around hungry and stumbled across this place, got lucky and got a table. What a great find!!! Beautiful atmosphere and so many veg options that all sounded incredible. We got a “flatbread pizza” like thing and the veg Kibbeh and we were so happy with both, great flavors. Nice wine choices and a homemade ginger drink as well. Would totally come back with friends to share more dishes. Updated from previous review on 2024-11-12

Nuba in Gastown is a hidden oasis, a feast for the senses tucked away in Vancouver’s historic heart. Walking through its doors feels like stepping into another world, where warm lights cast a golden glow and the air is fragrant with spices that hint at faraway lands. Each dish is a work of art, vibrant with colors and textures that dance on the plate and linger on the palate.

The hummus is silken, rich, and comforting, while the falafel is perfectly crisp outside and tender within, kissed with a warmth that only the freshest ingredients bring. The plates are abundant yet artfully arranged, each bite revealing layers of flavor that speak of tradition and passion. And it’s not just the food—Nuba’s staff serve with a warmth that makes every guest feel cherished, like family.

In Nuba, time seems to slow, and the bustle of Gastown fades away, leaving only the joy of sharing a beautiful meal in good company. It’s a place to savor, to celebrate, to escape—an unforgettable experience that lingers long after the last bite.

It is literally embarrassing to call this AUTHENTIC lebanese food. I got the PULLED LAMB shawarma, it literally looked like nothing like a shawarma, the hummus was bland, they couldn’t get anything right. When i read Vegan Kibbeh on the menu i knew it was over for me. If you look at picture below i literally have flowers on my “shawarma”.

All hell broke loose when I walked in and saw “Vegen Kibbeh” on the menu. Let me tell you, this does not exist anywhere in Lebanon. My friend and I ordered food, he got the “Pulled Lamb Shawarma” and it was not even edible, it would be a shame to feed this to my dog. I ordered the Shish khara on a bed of baba ghanough and holyy felt like I was eating lahem hameeer.
