We walked in and were greeted by the smell of old, overused cooking oil. If I hadn’t been with a kid who really wanted waffles I would have left.The room felt stark and cold. It was fine but nothing special. It was clean but felt dirty if that makes sense. It does seem to be a neighborhood favourite so maybe it was just a bad day.The kid had waffles, they were ok, nothing fancy about the except the price. I couldn’t tell if they made them or if they were eggos. They were as thin as eggos.I had chicken and Mac&cheese. 3 small fingers of chicken, which were nice and crispy but did have the pall of overheated oil on them. The Mac was disgusting. It was flavourless, overcooked and room temperature, though ever so slightly warmer in spots. I’ve never had worse.The service was a solid 3. The server was a lovely fellow but the wait was a bit long and the plating (everything in plastic baskets on paper) was terrible.I’m not a big fan of bad reviews but this place really left me feeling ripped off for my precious food dollar.

Visited Off the Grid Waffle Cafe with friends. The food was okay, nothing extraordinary. Limited seating space made it a bit cramped, and finding parking in the area was challenging. Despite the hype, I didn't find anything special that justified the hassle – just a normal cafe

A message to the owner(s):I implore you to do better! Church's Chicken is so close and so much better. I really want to support small business, but your chicken is seriously under seasoned and under cooked (almost health code violation under cooked). Please spend more time ensuring your chicken is properly boned as I had to pick apart my chicken sandwich. Coleslaw is also pretty bland and seems to only there for texture. On the plus side, I cannot expressed enough gratitude for the waffle fries, but that's not enough to keep me coming back. I'll give you some months before I try again, hoping there will be a significant improvement. Up your game... I'm cheering for you!
First time ever trying chicken & waffles, and I was not disappointed!The Hasbrowns were really good, the chicken was amazing, and pair extremely well with the waffles. The eggs were also good, and the bacon was cooked to perfection.The only issue slight issue I have with this place is that the chicken was a little too greasy in my opinion.. it wasn’t greasy to the touch but when you took a bite out of it you definitely got smacked with some.Overall though I really enjoyed my meal & will probably be back.

People as a black man I will tell the truth this place does not season there chicken the MAC taste like a 4th grader made it. This is F up and the price it doesn’t adds up. My black brothers and black queens we r known to season our food to perfection shoutout to my Canada who love soul food clearly this is not the place if u need good chicken and waffles go to #DOWNLOWCHICKENSHACK

Came here to try it out and I loved how cozy the vibe is, the food came out spectacular and it was a lot too. Highly recommend as a more grab and go kinda vibe though as it’s a new restaurant and the space is pretty small. Still worth it
