TL;DR a city gem that is no longer what it used to be!
I’ve frequented this place for years. It’s where I’d bring friends and family while also showing them around UBC. They had such good Indian and Indian fusion food options, quite unlike anything in Vancouver (perhaps some places in Surrey would come close). But it seems inflationary pressures have hit this place hard.
The food was mediocre, service apathetic, and prices, which were already pricey, have skyrocketed.
I hope they can turn this place around but until then, goodbye from me!
Nothing tasted good - not even the ketchup
The sausages were so oily and tasted nothing like a real sausage. The eggs were so bland they just a bit spicy no salt no nothing. The hash brown was also very bland and stale. Even the ketchup tasted like tomato paste.
When I told one of the employees that I want to and the plate bad she didn’t even ask if anything was wrong she just said ok and left.
Terrible food terrible customer service.

Wow! This was an awesome experience. It's a great place to have some Indian food near campus. I had the kadhi pakoda plate and it was great! The Indian wedding style filter coffee that Avane specially made was phenomenal! The most awesome part of the experience was the owner Avane Chang. He is gem of a person. God bless him and his family! Their family has restaurants in India and he can speak multiple Indian languages! Would love to come back to this restaurant and meet Avane again! Cool fact: His family specifically Nelson Wang invented the Manchurian in India. Whenever you have Manchurian next, remember it came from his family and was invented in India 🙂
Highest recommendation for the overall experience. This is the best place I know for Indian food on or near campus 🙂👏

Your review is already great! I’ve just made a few small tweaks for smoother flow and readability:
Had an amazing experience here! Only U Cafe is clean and well-maintained, with bright colors and an inviting interior that makes the space feel warm and welcoming. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, always there when you need them.
We couldn’t decide between brunch or Indian food, and this was the perfect place for both! The food was beyond our expectations - they offer a large selection of beverages and dishes, with generous portions at a great value. What really surprised me was how well they execute both Western and Indian cuisines. Whether you’re craving classic eggs bennys or a flavorful Indian specialty, they do both exceptionally well. Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality food around UBC Village!

The best Indian food in Vancouver. Absolutely delicious and has a ghar ka khaana feel. Owner and staff are some of the nicest people you’ll meet. Super skilled cooks. I’m addicted to the iced filter coffee too. You can’t go wrong with any of the dishes, but we’re partial to the Egg Masala Roll and Samosa Grilled Cheese.

A restaurant I wish I had known when I first came to the area. The breakfast is beautiful. The owner of the restaurant is half Indian and half Chinese, and he combines a beautiful flavour. They have Iranian and Indian tea, and the most beautiful thing is Karak tea. A helpful, smiling team.

The place is very nice that is for sure, and the food was pretty good. The employees were kind and friendly. Though, it is quite expensive. Paid 15 dollars for this:

I really enjoy this small cafe along my campus quite a bit! The food is so authentic and quite flavourful. I’m from Mumbai so the Indian menu here definitely reminds me of home and the environment itself is absolutely friendly! The owner, Mr. Arwan is such a nice person, and he always greets me and asks me about my day and if the food was to my liking. If you’re looking for a unique, yet quiet place, this is definitely it! The food comes under 5 minutes to your table, and the amount is impressive. Worth every penny!
