I used to go to their other place in downtown which closed a few years ago. Not sure if the current place is the same owner or not. I liked their cheakpea and cabbage, but the chicken curry tasted way below my expectation. Don't recommend their chicken curry.
I often visit this place as a friend who used to study in the downtown area swears by this place. Love it. It's actually a bit far from me but my friend and I still visit from time to time to have their food.If you can handle the heat, the Chili Chicken is a must-have. If you don't want anything as spicy, their shawarma, bamboo chicken and lentils are still pretty good.
Having moved away from Vancouver some years ago, i had't had lunch at Rice 'n' Spice for some time. I dropped in for a plate of chilli chicken. lentils and cabbage. I was pleased to discover my favourite combo tasted exactly like it did during the the 20 years or so that I was a regular customer. I complimented the manager on maintaining the original recipes, only to discover he was the son of the original owner who I remember helped out his father on busy days...
