What a fun and chill place to have lunch and dinner,
Food was outstanding from the taste to spice levels.

Maddy left no stone unturned with his service and knowledge of the menu.

Incredible oxtails and rice and peas. Spent a week in Vancouver and this was my best meal. Salivating just thinking about it.

Second time ordering via ubereats, oxtail large. I feel the portion size is not consistent. Too much rice, not enough oxtail. This feels more like a regular than a large. Also last time there was a very interesting chewy textured thing in the platter that I wasn’t sure what it was but didn’t get it this time. Not sure if I’ll order again. Flavor was good, not sure about the value for what you’re getting.

Food is amazing staff is amazing. Really miss the homemade patties use to come specifically for those but since they stopped I haven't been back in a while. If management reads this please bring the homemade beef patties back

I came to this restaurant as a long time commercial Drive resident and a descendant of the Strathcona Hogan‘s Alley Community; with my cousin who just moved into the neighbourhood and my good friend who is visiting from out of town. I wanted to show them a really good restaurant on commercial Drive that offered ethnic food and supported a black owned business. I have also met the owner several times at different, cultural events around town and have eaten at this restaurant on many occasions in the past. To my horror when we ordered our food at the counter from the girls that we’re working there (mid October ) only two of us were served our meal as the whole restaurant filled up. My Cousin still did not receive her order, however all the other customers who arrived after us had received food. She was the only one without a plate. When I alerted the staff of the issue, she was annoyed and told me it wasn’t her fault that it was the kitchen’s fault. She went into the kitchen and five minutes later came out with my Cousin‘s order, which was wrong, in a to go container and slapped it in front of her on the table. By this point I was really angry and said to her that we were eating here, and we both had our food on a plate and expected her to have the same. She snatched the to go container off the table, went back into the kitchen, and it looked as if she just dumped the contents onto a plate and brought it back to my Cousin and placed the plate in front of her. Her meal looked terrible and I was so embarrassed. I will never bring anybody back here again, especially if that staff is at the front counter. Some serious Customer service training is needed here.

Super humble spot on the drive. Literally best bang for your buck up the whole street and in my opinion, the city. Their hot sauce is free when you dine in and it’s better than anything you can buy in the stores by 10000x. Seriously, it’s great, be careful though it’s super super spicy even by my standards. There’s not many Jamaican restaurants in the city of vancouver still around. Eating here heals me. If you ever get the chance to, get a plate of jerk chicken from here. If this place ever went out of business I might move countries. Somehow their rice and peas got better in the last few years. Like they’re going uphill here. Not downhill. Been coming since I was a kid and I still don’t eat here enough. RIP Mr. Curry. 🕊️

I ordered oxtail combo on Oct31. The rice and pea had no texture and were both overcooked and mushy. The oxtail were full of bones. There were hardly any meat on it. This is my usual go to dish, but there was not much flavor for my takeout that day. Not worth paying $30 for this. It must've been an off day for the chef.

This place is just amazing! The place is clean, the service great ans the food delicious.

To be honest, my first impression of the food wasn't the best one, neither the first bit but after two or three I loved it! It feels like eating at home. The rice and beans is delicious, big portions and tasty protein.

There is a reason why this place has been opened for many years. I recommend to try it at least once, you won't regret it.

★☆☆☆☆
Riddim and Spice has gone completely downhill. The workers clearly can’t follow the simplest instructions — I asked (and paid for) for gravy, and somehow they sent me dry, crusty chicken that tastes like it’s been sitting out all day. This place used to be good, but the quality has turned to absolute garbage. This place has disappointed me more than once
I drove an hour home expecting a decent meal and ended up tossing it straight into the trash. No refund, no apology, no care. Total waste of money and time. Don’t even bother — they’ve lost it.

The rice and chicken is a blessing, not a lot of bean and too salty and the beef patty was not spicy nor did it have a lot of beef, but the chicken flavour makes it worth it man!
