Rodney's is awesome, i go every time i have the itch for mussels (doctor says its normal) and it never disappoints. All of their broths are delicious, and the staff is fun and attentive without being overbearing. If i had one suggestion, itd be to offer a toasted bread or something with the order. I dont want 8$ worth of bread, just a bit to soak up the broth at the end.

I have been a regular at Rodneys Oyster House in Yaletown for 10 years now and it has all the charm of a place that has seen it all, and can still shuck an oyster like a boss.
It is truly one of those unique spots with its own lively Cape Cod kind of vibe. You get ALL sorts of interesting crowds here which is part of the fun and the staff rolls with ALL of it like pros.
I came with my dad who was visiting me and I wanted to show him a special unique night after some heavy health issues in our close family - Rodneys was the obvious choice. He loved everything, especially the Halibut and the sav blanc poured to the cups brim. lol
AND, Andrea is basically the MVP of keeping things cool. We changed our reservation so many times on her that even the most laid back person on earth would have side eyed us at least once but she was totally unfazed and still got us the PRIME spot at the bar. And, if that is not enough to top it off she/they were surprised by a 40 person group for a special cause and welcomed all 40 people and pulled it off - noticed she had a smile throughout the entire situation and others on the team said “bring it on” - was a huge success.
And if you ever see anything less than four stars in a review for Rodneys (eg. 1 star lol) just assume someone had a bad day and mistook their oyster fork for a pitchfork.
This place is always top notch and Andrea is one of the reasons it is worth coming back.

Shockingly Rude Service.
I had one of the worst dining experiences ever at Rodney’s. After waiting 40 minutes for food, I politely asked a waitress for an update, and she snapped back: “This is not a McDonald’s.” Completely uncalled for.
I immediately canceled my order. Instead of coming back with a bill herself she sent her colleague. When I tried to pay, the machine froze after I selected “no tip,” and the waiter became visibly angry when I explained WHY I wasn’t tipping. Instead of apologizing, he defended the rude behavior, raised his voice, and tried to make a scene by looking around for support.
He even refused to give me the waitress’s name so I could report the incident.
Completely unprofessional staff, zero accountability, and an attitude problem from start to finish. I will not be returning, and I strongly advise others to avoid this place.
The only 1 nice employee in this restaurant is a hostess. Hopefully she will get a better workplace soon:)

10/10 food was perfect, like clear the plate good. Just smaller portions than I expected. 3 bite sized scallops for $28.50 (Hokkaido Scallops) amazing presentation and full of diverse flavors though, (Seafood Pasta - Supper) had 1 scallop, 2 prawns, 5 mussels and 5 clams $46.50. Although very delicious, can't say I would pay $46.50 for that again. And we had the happy hour (at 2pm) oysters (14 × $2.95 = $41.30), which were $4.95 regularly the waiter told me. Also had a Low Tide Lager $6.50. Very good immediate and attentive service, the interior was very warm and inviting. After $15 tip, total was $144.59.

I’ve been many times, and the food and atmosphere continue to be second to none. Our group of seven had a great experience, and I never hesitate to keep going back or recommending Rodney’s to others. This restaurant is a great spot for seafood lovers. The oysters are exquisite, but what really stands out is the service. Sitting at the bar is always a pleasure, with friendly staff taking care of you. I absolutely love that. I highly recommend this place, 100%. Oh, and the drinks — simple but very good, and the wine selection is excellent too.

We had a reservation, and when arrived were offered a seat at the bar or a very uncomfortable 2-top high table where - well, it was so hot! Ordered oysters, and our mistake (?) our dinner, both came out at the SAME TIME. Boo. Was the fish overcooked when it came out of the kitchen, or when it sat resting for 10 minutes while we tried to enjoy the not-great oysters? Hard to say, in the end I guess it doesn’t matter.
