The food provided at our wedding was varied yet classic and delicious. The staff members were incredibly helpful and were fantastic to our guests. Our guests complimented us on how nice the staff was and how easy they were to work with, as well as complimentary of the food. Would recommend.
Avoid This Venue for Major Life Events Like Weddings
If you’re considering booking this venue for a significant event, such as a wedding, I highly recommend looking elsewhere.
Last month, my friend hosted his wedding here, spending tens of thousands of dollars to make it a memorable day. While the venue itself is stunning, with breathtaking ocean and mountain views that provided a beautiful backdrop for the wedding party photos, the experience was marred by the poor attitude of the staff.
The bartender, who appeared to be the manager that evening, was particularly unpleasant. Throughout the event, she repeatedly told us what we couldn’t do and restricted our alcohol consumption, even though we had purchased the bar in full. Her demeanor was rude and condescending, which was shocking considering the high standard one would expect from such an establishment.
To make matters worse, despite the bar being fully paid for, she cut off alcohol service early, claiming we had been drinking too much. Some guests brought their own beer, and as a result, my friend (the groom) was charged an additional $500. On top of that, he was asked to RETURN THE NEXT DAY TO ASSIST WITH CLEANUP, which is completely unacceptable given the substantial amount spent on the event.
While we understand that venues have their own policies, the complete lack of warmth and professionalism from the staff was inexcusable. It’s not unreasonable to expect friendly, respectful service, especially when you're hosting such an important event at a venue of this caliber.
I’m writing this review to caution others—if you’re looking for a venue that will treat you and your guests with the respect and hospitality your event deserves, I suggest you look elsewhere.
I attended a wedding here recently, and while the venue itself was charming, there were quite a few rules that took away from the experience. The open bar was paused due to what they called “over-consumption” within just an hour, which felt quite restrictive. On top of that, even when the bar was open, we had to have our partners present just to get a drink—even though we’d been at the venue the entire time!
Initially, we were allowed to have drinks at the dining tables, but partway through the event, they suddenly changed the rules. We were required to stay in the bar area, which felt limiting and confusing for a wedding celebration.
To top it off, the staff were unwilling to help with cleaning up the dance floor or removing decor, leaving the BRIDE AND GROOM to come back the next day to CLEAN it themselves. For such a special event, I’d expect more assistance from the venue, especially considering how much was spent. The location is beautiful, but the restrictive rules and lack of support from staff left much to be desired.
To add to that, a staff member was oddly strict about which cups we used and although the glasses were displayed on the counter. When we reached for the glass they took it away while giving us dirty looks the entire time. It made the experience feel unnecessarily tense.
My daughter got married at Cecil Green Park house. The only option for catering is to get Sage Catering. It's the worst catering service ever. They didn't have enough food for breakfast or lunch eventhough our guest count was less than the number we provided to Sage. Also, DON'T be fooled by the price menu provided by Cecil Green House or Sage; that's just the tip of the iceberg. For example, we paid around $6000 for the food and about $6000 for the service and staff. What you see on the menu is just the cost of the food. It doesn't include delivery, staff, cook's time, etc. I wish I could give them MINUS 5 stars, but that's not the option. The staff supervisor was arrogant and non co-operative. Their excuse for insufficient food was, "They don't police how much each person is taking". I have emails to prove it. Please don't be embarrassed by blindly signing the contract; PUT A Clause saying something like "If any food items are not enough, you will get 20% discount for each item. My only motive is to save you embarrassment in front of your guests.
Thanks for reading!!
As we booked Cecil Green Park House for our wedding, we had Sage catering the event. We do not currently live in Vancouver and therefore were not able to try any of the food in advance, thankfully we were not disappointed! Every request was considered and all allergies were easily accommodated. Many of our guests raved about the food and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals as the bride and groom. Some favorites specifically mentioned were the mushroom soup, beef tenderloin and cheesecake.
Starters: Kale Caesar Salad and Mushroom Soup
Pre-Selected Entree Options: Salmon, Mushroom Risotto and AAA Beef Tenderloin
Dessert: Berry Cheesecake
Went to a wedding here. Really enjoyed the food, drinks, and space. Great views when the weather is clear.
I recently worked with Sage Catering professionally for an event that we were hosting called Homes For The Holidays. The team at Sage was responsive, flexible, professional, good natured and thoughtful. We were so grateful to with with such a reliable company for our event, and would gladly work with them in the future! Thank you very much for all your hard work.
My husband and I were married at Cecil Green Park House where Sage is the exclusive caterer, and our entire guest list who came from out of town all agreed that our wedding dinner was the best meal they had during their entire trip in Vancouver. Alita was our coordinator and she was incredibly helpful through the whole process and went above any beyond to make everything perfect. I found it odd that they didn't have a lager on their beer menu, nor could be get diet coke, only coke zero, however, none of our guests even noticed and the quality of the open bar was incredible, but wine I've ever had at a wedding for sure. Can't recommend Sage highly enough, no words could expressed how happy I am with the quality of the food, drinks, and service.
Sage catering was an absolute dream to work with! Alita was phenomenal and a pleasure to work with, she helped make the day feel so much easier and was with us every step of the way. Couldn’t have asked for anyone better. The food is so good, all of our guests LOVED it. Highly recommend to everyone!!
Amazing wedding venue and the food was so delicious! Big thanks to Alita and the kitchen team!

We held our wedding at Sage Catering's Ideas Lounge, right next to UBC's Rose Garden, and we can't praise this venue enough! Alita, our Event Coordinator, was truly fantastic to work with, making everything easy and enjoyable. The venue itself is stunning, blending mid-century architecture with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The highlight was undoubtedly the food – our guests couldn't stop talking about it. We opted for the buffet menu (Wild Berry Salad, Harvest Salad, Charred Vegetable Medley, Roasted Potatoes, Mushroom Rigatoni, Pan Seared Salmon and Grilled Steak). The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring our guests had a great time.Sage made our wedding truly unforgettable. We highly recommend it for any special event!Amazing location, excellent food and top-notch service.
“I’M TELLING YOU THAT FOOD WAS SO GOOD!” These were the words of one of my good friends, whose husband is a chef and owns a restaurant on South Granville. Other quotes from my wedding guests include, “that steak was so incredibly tender” and, “Sablefish is my favourite, but it never tasted so good before!”. My vegan friend came up to me during dinner, fork in hand and said, “you have to try this. It’s the best mushroom I’ve ever had”. In fact, every time I ran into a friend after our wedding, the memory of the food would come back to them, and mid-sentence, their eyes would widen and they’d say, “oh my god! The food!” It was so rewarding to hear how the people I loved felt nourished and beyond satisfied with their meal at our wedding. The catering and bartending staff were also phenomenal! They were so friendly and helpful – I remember one staff who held my plate for me at the buffet while I held the train of my dress up. And I can’t thank Levi enough, who was our food and beverage manager. He always answered my emails in a timely way, and he managed to snag the last few rental patio warmers in the city before our October wedding. Because we were married during pandemic restrictions, dancing wasn’t permitted indoors, but with the patio warmers and a covered patio, our guests sang karaoke and danced their hearts out!
