Excellent excellent food. We had the lamb shoulder, jujeh kebab, dugh, Persian tea, saffron ice cream in wafers. Holy moly, everything was so good. And service by Nina was excellent. She is the one woman army running the restaurant and is doing a mighty fine job. Thank you Sahel for a great experience.

The food was served quickly and the staff were friendly. However, we weren’t big fans of the dishes, as nearly everything was overly oily.

What I liked:
1. The food was served hot and fresh.
2. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting.
What could be improved:
1. Our two main dishes were served at different times.
2. The food was a bit too oily for our taste.
3. The tea was served with a simple tea bag, which felt underwhelming.
Food was amazing. We order two royal sahel platter. The waiter dropped the food off and did not come back to check if needed anything. Did not even refill water. Very disappointing experience. Customer service is non-existent and does not deserve the 1 star rating. I will not visit again due to lack of custo.er service.

I would give 4 stars for the food, however service is very disappointing. We ordered doogh for our table, server did not bring us extra glasses and did not even bother asking if we needed more water, or clean water glasses.

We’ve been to Sahel Restaurant multiple times and have always liked it — which is why our most recent visit left us a bit disappointed.
The food is still good overall, but we noticed a significant price increase compared to previous visits. As regulars, it was hard not to notice that change — especially when it felt like we were getting less meat for more money.
One frustrating moment was the 25-minute wait for lamb chops. When we asked, we were told they needed time to grill — but based on what we received, it didn’t seem like they were actually cooking them for the full 25 minutes. The chops weren’t drastically overcooked, which would’ve made sense if they’d truly been on the grill that long. So it seemed pretty clear that in-house diners were being deprioritized in favor of delivery orders — which is disappointing when you’ve made the effort to come in.
The chops themselves were also very salty, and the portion quite small. The amount of rice served with the dishes is excessive — I’d much rather have an extra piece of meat than that huge portion of rice. That said, the kebab was juicy and flavorful, and definitely a highlight.
Overall, the experience was just okay. If you’re a regular, you’ll likely notice the higher prices, smaller portions, and that some dishes are clearly pre-cooked rather than freshly made. I hope they take some steps to balance quality and service again — we used to really enjoy coming here.

Hands down the best Persian food in Vancouver. The price/portion value is great. The food is authentic, a taste from Home. Our host, Ms. Nina was super kind which made the whole experience even better.
