I ended up getting the Menchi Katsu (pork/beef blend). The katsu was fried to perfection. the entire meal was very filling and was definitely worth the wait.

By far the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. My friend and I were visiting for the weekend from Toronto, and had Saku as a top bucket list spot to try. Thoroughly disappointed. After a long hike, we were excited to chow down and made sure we made it before kitchen last call (9:30PM). We arrived at 8:45PM, and were lead to our table. We were given our menu and waters, quickly ordered our food and waited. Food arrived before 9PM, and we were noticeably confused by the mise en place (includes a mortar and pestle). That's when our server introduced herself, apologized for not giving us a menu walkthrough and quickly explained to grind the sesame seeds to add to the katsu sauce. After hearing her explanation, we were excited by the interactive element, and were very excited to finally try the food!As soon as we grabbed our chopsticks to dig in, the staff began stacking the chairs around us. At this point, we have been sitting for less than 15 minutes, have not tried a BITE of food, and suddenly the whole restaurant is shutting down. Staff began wiping tables around us, and very loudly began to stack chairs all around us. We were confused because we called ahead of time, and knew kitchen last call wasn't for another 30 minutes-- yet they were shutting down the whole restaurant. As a server myself, I felt very frustrated. We excused the chairs and staff doing their closing duties and continued to eat. We felt rushed, and ate faster. By 9:10PM the server dropped our cheque, and stood beside us with the credit machine. At this point, we have been in the restaurant for a total of 25 minutes, eating for 15 minutes, and are only about halfway through our meal. The meal itself tasted underwhelming. Katsu was super crispy, but at hand, tasted like a standard katsu that you can try at any other Japanese spot.

The male Japanese server seemed to be looking down on me, which was not a good way to serve the customers. It's a Korean business, so maybe the Japanese people aren't well-educated, but I don't think the average Japanese person would be able to provide that kind of customer service if they were to live and receive an education in Japan. She didn't even smile and even though there were quite a few other empty seats, she asked me if I could take down my plate after I finished eating, poured me a glass of water no less than 4 times, and asked if I wanted her to leave quickly. That's what I felt (I'm sorry if I'm wrong). It's a shame because the food is quite delicious among the tonkatsu restaurants in Vancouver.

The katsu is juicy and soft. Unlimited salad , soup and rice which the waitress would come and ask if you want more.

It was my first time visiting.Service was so good. Typical Japanese style service. No one can beat their service.I ordered Tokujyo Rosu. It was too oily at the bottom, so it made the batter wet. It means that it was served too late after it was fried OR the meat itself is too oily (I was told that they use fatty meat for Tokujyo, but I didn't expect this much) Either way, it is inappropriate to be a high-end tonkatsu. Maybe I'm gonna visit again but won't order Tokujyo.Kyabetsuwa oisikatta.ㅠㅠ

Love the place, the service is very quick and friendly! The food was great, we (as majority of ppl) chose the Zenbu option, it’s a good amount of food for 2. Definitely recommended!

Saku never disappoints, my husband and I have eaten here numerous times and the food is amazing. The portions are great and we always appreciate that the rice, soup and salad are refillable. Try the cheese cutlet, yum! And don't forget to join the wait-list. There's usually always a line and joining online beats waiting outside for a long time.Vegetarian options: They do offer a vegetarian option, it reminded me of vegetable tempura but with katsu breading. Keep in mind the cheese katsu has a thin piece of pork in it, I'm not sure if they have a version without meat.Parking: There have been times that I've had to drive around a little while to find a spot. There is a parking lot that has public parking in the side alley near kosoo.

Had the curry udon and came out warm. Completely cooled down within 10 mins where the fat on the top layer solidified. Server said that they could reheat for me but it still was warm. That katsu on the other hand was pretty decent.

Oh God! We had a blast here! Food was an experience here! Servers are very friendly and extremely fast! I didn’t enjoy very much the smell (friend in every corner) but still, worth a visit! ❤️

Waited for about 20 mins. Wasn't very busy as usual. We choose to order the Zenbu Katsu, which gives you almost one of each katsu to sample as a platter, which you get (chicken, pork, pork filet, veggie, prawn, scallop katsu). And we just added 1 additional set for rice miso soup and tonjuri. We also ordered the Japanese pop called Ramune, in which we had the strawberry flavor and the melon. Service was good. It's Diffenatley one of my fav spots.Vegetarian options: There are a few options

Overrated! Tonkatsu and Udon are not great but not bad either. For my opinion, it isn’t the real Tonkatsu which i experienced in Japan. The rice seems like Thai rice not Japanese’s rice . Tonkatsu is very dry and not flavorful. The bowl for grinding sesame isn’t correct, you can’t grind it to mix with Tonkatsu sauce. Sauce also too salty.
