I love samurai sushi because I’m fat and the portion are big and who does not love giant sushi
I came back today after few years but I was disappointed in their service. The ladies at front were nice and kind but not the 3 chefs at this sushi place. I was sitting at the bar in front of them, waiting for my food to be done. They talked to each other and teased me in their own language but I understood everything. I think it’s fair for everyone treating to each other nicely. If you can’t treat someone nice, then just keep quiet and work hard. I am giving one star because that’s the lowest one I can give. I rather pay for quality not quantity. Thanks and good luck.

My favorite go to sushi place. Even has a sushi roll called the Vancouver roll that's really good.

This isn’t related to the old Samurai Sushi that used to be on Cambie (I asked), but they kept the tradition of having very big portions as their signature.
The price point is very decent and of course they have very generous portions. While the sushi is okay, their sizes are the largest. The staff that work here are super nice, so that’s a nice touch.

Big rolls! Samurai sushi is well known for their portion sizes. If you want a real bang for your buck, look no further. I ordered spicy tuna, salmon sashimi and one of their platters. I had plenty of leftovers.

Quality has Came down alot and fish is not fresh. Sad to see the quality go down compared to previous experience. Been a loyal customer for many years. But our last order on June 12 2025 was very disappointing and we did not feel good after eating. Rice is under season and tuna and salmon were not fresh
The food is great except I've never had any luck with their tuna. Smells and tastes not fresh, and on one occasion made me sick. Everything else on the menu is fine. It's only the issue with the tuna that ranks this as 4 star. Fast forward to 2025, and I'm still a loyal customer. They give you such lovely big portions, and if at the sushi bar, you've got the friendly and helpful chefs to talk to. :)

food is good, but size shrunk quite a bit. Used to be huge size. now just normal.
For this class of sushi (and for this family of related restaurants) this was incredibly poor. Ordered a Maki Combo C and it was a hot mess. Poorly assembled, bones in the spicy tuna, flavor and textures were off. Will not be back.
Affordable and generous portions—perfect for a quick, satisfying meal.
The sashimi is surprisingly thick and fresh, with no fishy taste. Definitely a pleasant surprise every single time!

I ordered delivery through skip the dishes and am utterly disappointed with the quality and taste of the food.
I ordered $60 and some change worth of food.
Appetizer sashimi (tuna/salmon) in addition to a toro sashimi dish. Quality is unacceptable.
Firstly I cannot tell which is toro and which is tuna.
Secondly, why is the fish stringy and separating? I’ll tell you why… cause it’s not fresh.
I’m surprised this place is still open. Where’s health Canada? This can’t be safe for consumption. Yes there’s an inherent risk when consuming raw foods, but this is just negligence!
Then I ordered other rolls that appeared to have the same fish in it.
Would not recommend.
Every time I come to Vancouver, I must stop by and enjoy the sushi here. It is not a fancy restaurant. Simple and fresh ingredients and good value for money!
Used to be good… now when I order salmon sashimi I feel like there’s always at least 3 pieces that are super thin compared to others. I also noticed the pieces are way smaller now. I will need to find a new sushi place to go to now. This used to be my staple. The prices have hiked up too. Not worth it in my opinion anymore.
Fresh sushi. Self serve tea. No deep fried dishes such as tempura
