NEWLY OPENED GEM! You guys have to come here their kaiseki set is so worth it! $58/person and it's a good variety perfect for dates and to come with friends and family! * Course 1: - Salad ~ this was good, I like the apple dressing it was light and sweet and paired well with the leafy green. I do wish there was more of it though. 8/10. - Chawanmushi ~ sooo good the egg was so soft and smooth and it was so delicious with their ichiban sauce. 9/10. - Tempura ~ crispy and light perfectly battered and fried golden the den dash was good with it too. 9/10. * Course 2: - Sashimi ~ we got salmon, hamachi, & madai the sashimi was all super fresh and nicely thick cut. 9/10. - Nigiri ~ we got bluefin, aburi ika, and jumbo prawn delicious I loved the aburi ika and bluefin it was delicious and the sushi rice was a bit sweet which compliments the seafood. 9.5/10 - Atemaki ~ 3 kind of fish with kanpyo mayo was bomb I liked this the most it was so good and the green onions topped was so delicious with it. 10/10 - Miso ~ flavourful and rich! 7.5/10. * Course 3: - bbq ~ this came with a huge variety of meats. And I really loved how you can wrap it all with the veggies and pair it the way you want! 8/10. * Course 4: - udon soup ~ warm and comforting can't go wrong with some delicious perfectly cooked udon! 8/10. * Course 5: - ice cream ~ * Overall their kaiseki is a good deal to me. It was good I do wish it came out faster. Good amount of good as we got full with course 3 though .

Bright, harsh lighting takes away from an otherwise nice looking space. The service was a bit awkward and confusing, seems like they are still finding their footing. The food was lacking, oshi was over sauced and fell apart, portions were on the smaller side.

My husband and I had a great time at this new place Shoku. It's a cozy place with a friendly vibe that made us feel right at home. We really liked the simple yet stylish decor. The service was quick and the staff were so nice. It's a fun spot for a casual date night or to hang out with friends. We'll be back for sure!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Visited Shoku recently and was thoroughly impressed with their hot pot. The ingredients were fresh, especially the clams and the tofu stamped with the Shoku brand a nice personal touch. The staff made us feel right at home with their attentive service. It's a cozy spot for a satisfying meal. Looking forward to my next visit!

It's tough as a new restaurant in town so I think Shoku deserves a try! Really nice grand opening 2 for 1 deals. Our server was nice and explained the discounts. Salmon oshi was well made and the salmon kama (fried salmon collar) was great!

One of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had!We made a reservation online a day before we went to the place. The dining option was a required field and so i entered dinner for our 7pm booking. Turns out the system is for kaiseki only - and we weren't allowed to change to ala carte later when we arrived because the sets were already reserved. (Strangely the system allowed free cancellation of the booking and there wasn’t any warning or note about the “food will be reserved” requirement.)The service was terrible - the server gave us a side eye when we asked about changing to the ala carte option. She sounded annoyed when she told us we simply couldn’t abandon the kaiseki sets because we “will be wasting food that is already reserved for us.” During the entire time, we were rushed to finish. We only had like 5-8 mins for each course and she would get the next course ready when we obviously were in the middle of the course - we felt pressured and didn’t even take the time to enjoy or talk much because we were in a rush. Also, she needs to work on the delivery - instead of asking the customer sitting inside to hold the tray, she can put it on the table first and push it to him/her to avoid any accident from happening. I have been a server, barista and restaurant manager and i can say her customer service and attitude were poor.We ended up ordering 3 sets since there were 3 of us. We’d still be ok with the experience if the food was decent - it wasn’t!!! There were 5 courses and every course contained rice or carbs. You would be full just by eating these. But the main problem is the fish choices. A lot of the selection is very fishy. I could only finish the oshi where they used salmon. Even the tuna toro that I enjoyed in other places was fishy. The dessert was a yuzu juice and mochi that weren’t house-made.While we were excited that we got to visit a new eatery, we were very disappointed with the food and service. Despite the poor experience, my husband was generous by tipping 18% because we saw there were only 4 customers when we were there (3 of us and an other person). We won’t be coming back unfortunately, at least not in the near future. This is an honest review that I hope the management can read it all and improve themselves.

Huge menu. Food had not taste. Luke warm green tea in a glass.. I honestly felt like I entered into the twilight zone. Sign “two for one” outside, a lie. Hard to believe this is a new restaurant … makes me wonder…. ?

Entirely, the most delicious and well proportioned salmon, fat tuna, spicy calamari, and blue fin I have EVER had. It was beyond any liking I have had - even outside of country! Julia, made my friend and myself have a great quiet and perfect meal! Thank you. Will return with many more people!

Ordered their pressed sushi on uber. Absolutely terrible. For starters, the wasabi was watery and their ginger tasted rotten. My child asked why the wasabi looked like melted icecream .Their sushi is lacking flavor, but when it did have flavor it was very off putting ( parmesan and pesto sauce on ebi aburi?!???) I tossed away the food. It just all tasted off. It's the first time I tossed food in years, so that's quite the statement. I suspect they have fake 5 star reviews. Definitely will not give this another try. There are far better places in Vancouver.
