Good food, good prices and overhead radiant heat for those cooler days on the outside patio.

Went with my sister to have a patio dinner last night. Grace, the owner, claims to have studied the art of Thai cooking under PenPen Sittitrai, teacher and trainer of chefs for the Royal Thai family, but the food is certainly is not authentic Thai. My mum is Thai (from central Thailand) and I have lived in Thailand and the food at Simply Thai is not at all authentic Thai. I would say it was mediocre at best. It is sort of like Chinese/Filipino food with some Thai spices in it. The two chicken dishes tasted like the meat was off and not fresh. The pad thai was sweet and too much ketchup. Genuine pad thai should use sweet tamarind sauce, not ketchup. I know; that is what they use all over Thailand including the tourist traps in Bangkok. The green curry had way too much sugar in it. In fact, when I went to chat with the chicken staff, the main cook is Filipino!!! Imagine that. In fact, the greasiness and glutinousness of the food is reminiscent of Filipino food as sold in the street vendors in Manila. Also, the food is expensive, so I didn't think it was a good deal. I guess they have been trying to make up for the COVID losses, but that is not the way to do it as the price just drives customers away. Anyway, I guess too many patrons must have the same idea. Apparently Simply Thai are closing down and are being bought out by a new owner who is famous in the city for preparing true, genuine Thai food. The new owners own one of the only 2 Thai restaurants in the Lower Mainland that actually serve the real Thai food. They own a really great authentic Thai food restaurant in Marpole. The other truly genuinely Thai food outlet is on Edmonds in Burnaby, but it is owned by someone else. So bye-bye Simply Thai, you will be gone by the end of May.

Only one server working on a super busy Saturday night. Poor server was breathless sprinting between customers clearly overwhelmed, but did a great job under the circumstances. Food was good but small portions relative to price.

I have been a loyal patron for over five years because of the calibre of food they used to produce. Their Pad Thai was spectacular. However their food quality has since gone down, by a LOT. We ordered the hot and sour soup which was mediocre at best but what was noticeable was the limited items in it. In addition, we ordered the stuff chicken wings and chicken Satay that we found had a weird after taste. The worse however was the Pad See Eew traditionally served with flat noodles which they substituted with regular ones made worse by drowning it in black pepper to elevate we suspect the level of spicyness. It was a disaster and a disrespect to the Thai dish. The only saving grace for dinner was the sweet and sour pork which we drowned by drinking red wine. I know Covid has been tough on restaurants and ownership changes may have occurred. Also, many have found ways to cut corners to survive but there has to be some kind of standard. Sadly this place missed that mark. We paid our bill knowing this will be our last time to this establishment.

They're food sucks! Worst sticky rice i've ever had before as it was all wet, looked like it came straight out of a can...it tasted gross as well. They're curry's were OVERLY sweet way too saucy even the mall food court Thai food tastes better than this place! I would give this place 0 stars if I could as for their service, it was OK but their food taste like s**** I'm sorry but that is the truth!! I definitely will not be going back here. I should have just gone to Banana Leaf but I wanted to try somewhere new which was a mistake! Waste of money and time!!!! Also my bf and I felt kind of sick after we ate their food, he was gassing up a lot and I was burping a lot. I don't think they actually cook their food either as they probably just have it bought ready to go.

We ordered take out tonight. Cho Muang dumplings were great. Pad thai was terrible; tasteless. The duck in the red curry was good but the curry itself was bland and tasteless. The green curry with beef was good. For the price we were extremely disappointed and won't return.

I normally do not like to give poor reviews unless I feel it is warranted and after several days to think about - I believe this is one of those cases. We have been here many times before, but not for about a year and things have gone downhill. We have had the same experience of others with regard to staff...not sure how any restaurant would keep staff around that make customers feel that way...but I digress...When we went there this weekend we order takeout and as I grabbed the bag it felt quite light (especially for ordering 4 separate dishes which included 2 rice bowls) but did not think much of it. When we got home and opened them up, we were floored by how small the portion sizes were and by the fact that one dish was only 2/3 full.We discussedthings for a bit but eventually decided to call them and complain. When I called I spoke to the lady we ordered from and she seemed nervous to talk to the kitchen staff or the owner but eventually the owner came on the phone. Essentially she said there was nothing they could do and that they were giving smaller portions out because they had to shut down for COVID. Now, don't get me wrong, I appreciate that businesses are struggling with this - however, what I don't agree with is trying to screw over your customers because of this fact - it seemed highly disingenuous. At the end of it all she offered us two deep fried crispy rolls - but we had to drive back to pick them up. Needless to say, we are not going to be going back ever which is unfortunate because we really enjoy Thai food (their food has generally been pretty good).

It's a decent place for having a quick meal but other than that it's not a restaurant that makes me wanna go for a date night or any special event. There are better Thai places in Vancouver. However the price point is very good given the location.

Pleasant and friendly staff! We got to meet the chef, Grace, and she was very kind. Food was delicious and you can tell that it is not your typical Canadian-Thai fusion restaurant as the pad thai did not taste like what you would get at a fast food restaurant. I will be coming back here for sure!

The atmosphere could be a little better, but nothing to complain about. Other than that, this is the best Pad Thai in town. Soooo good. will be back regularly.

Only place downtown that I refused to tip.We did dine-in but they were more focused on their takeout service. Awful service and the server didn't know the menu. Couldn't make a recommendation. Their website shows cocktails on the menu, when I asked they said all they have is wine and beer. We went for a birthday dinner but regretted it quickly. Another pair walked in and was seated on the patio. They left within 10 minutes as there was no service. My preference was for very spicy and I heard her ring it through as mild. I thought maybe I was wrong but when it came it appears that's what she did even though we had a conversation about it.Honestly, Thai Basil is significantly better. Grab takeout from there and take it to the beach for a much better dining experience and food.
