Walked in today despite the negativity I’ve heard about this place. Decided to give them the benefit of the doubt because surely all the feedback would have lead to change by now. Sure enough, staff were getting screamed at in the kitchen. Walked right back out because why would anyone ever support that nonesense
Absolutely wonderful place, and we LOVE the rugelach!!! Thank you Solly’s!! The cinnamon buns are truly the best!!

I love bagels and when I found this place I was wondering what was on the menu. I ordered a Parmesan Rosemary bagel, toasted and buttered with smoked salmon creamcheese and 2 mini cinnibun with creamcheese frosting also I saw a single serve dill creamcheese and was going to buy and the gentleman in front of me asked to pay for it. I was very grateful yfor his help. Also they had fresh smoked Salmon and frozen as well as I wanted to send some to me Mum so I was going to ask her and my phone died then and there Oh well

The food is definitely delicious and I always get their mini cinnamon buns.
While waiting in line I’ve noticed that the bossy lady kept distracting the nice Philippino lady (cashier) who was trying to help customers with their orders. When my turn came to order, the bossy lady kept talking over us while I was trying to order my food. This is extremely rude and disrespectful, it’s like I was invisible to her.
The cashier later tried to apologize on her behalf but it was still a very awkward experience. Perhaps be mindful of the customers and make them feel welcome instead of seeing them as a $ sign.

But hey owner.. maybe it’s time to hear out those negative reviews and reflect on what you could improve on. I promise you, we Vancouverites have not banded collectively to form a “narrative” against your establishment. We’ve simply just seen it deteriorate over the years.
You serve great bagels. Keep doing it. And keep your employees happy. It’s 2025, and in case you haven’t heard, employers across all industries are going above and beyond to retain their staff. It’s not too late to change. Do it before you lose your loyal customer-base.

Could not get service because the owner was too busy screaming at their over-worked staff over what seemed to be a minor misunderstanding.
Really embarrassing. I saw many people walking out with confused looks on their faces. I feel bad for the staff there and I feel bad the customers.
Do better, be more professional, and treat people like human beings.
Edit: The response from the owner shows you everything you need to know. We were only served after having to watch the staff be yelled at while we stood in line.

THE WORST experience I have ever had in Vancouver. The staff are RUDE, charged me an extra $9 for adding onion to my bagel?!?! Then they didn’t even toast after I asked. I want my money and time back.

The owner of this establishment should be formally investigated for her abusive and demeaning treatment of staff.
The way she speaks to and mistreats employees — and even patrons — is nothing short of disgusting.
No business owner has the right to treat people this way.
There are countless genuinely authentic, ethical, locally owned places in this city that treat their staff with dignity and respect — this is not one of them.
To the owner of Solly’s:
Shame on you. Your behaviour is reprehensible and deplorable. Your ‘leadership’ is toxic, and your treatment of others utterly indefensible and morally wrong.
I look forward to the day your abusive practices catch up with you and this place is shut down for good or maybe do yourself, the community a public service and seriously consider retiring since you seem to hate people so much.

Rude employees, i feel bad for the staff being yelled at by their boss here. You need to treat your staff with respect. Never supporting this business that verbally assaults their staff. Gross behavior.
